I got the new fob in today and did the programming this evening and got it working first try, now I have a panic button as well that works but it didn't fix my issue, fob is fully functional but still has range issues, im probably gonna try and take a look at that module and possibly replace it but any other suggestions would be appreciated, im still happy i got a brand new fob it feels way better to press than my original lol.joatmon wrote: ↑Thu Aug 13, 2020 3:53 am On my 03, the fob receiver was above and slightly behind the rear passenger side tire, behind the plastic interior trim. Have to pull the interior trim for access, unless you have squid arms to reach in from the tail light access door. Can't remember, but I think the receiver module doesn't have a separate external antenna. I never pulled that trim, I think I once was able to barely touch it, but I don't have squid arms.
The matrix fobs also have a red panic button on the back. I bought one of those, and made it a full two days before I reached into my pocket for something else and accidentally set it off flashing and beeping. Even if the fob isn't the problem, getting another one will let you rule out the fob as a possible villain.
It is odd that it coincided with replacement of the integration relay, but also that its a range issue. I'd expect it to either work or not. In the attached 03 Matrix wiring diagram for the wireless door control, it shows the receiver gets power from the dome fuse, and since it was the dome wire shorting that started all of this, maybe the receiver was affected.
I believe I saw mention before that it was located in the cargo area behind one of the panels. I am not 100% positive though. You may be able to locate a module from a junkyard using www.car-part.com.BrandonMassey wrote: ↑Tue Aug 25, 2020 6:16 pm Can anyone tell me where the location of the module in an 06 vibe? I can't find it at all sadly, also if anyone knows a link to a module to buy that'd be helpful too, I just can't find anything for some reason or I don't know if the info is correct.
I got one from a junkyard a while ago from the location you showed in the picture and I took the entire inside of my car apart to do some work and replaced the part and it fixed the issue, I had to get a new fob like a few days after though for some reason it was weird idk if it didn't like the new module or something but my receiver finally receives nowjoatmon wrote: ↑Mon Sep 07, 2020 9:54 am Well, I thought it was in there, but I was going on other folks info, and had never pulled that trim panel to verify, so I humbly apologize for misleading you. I have no idea what I was able to feel in that area on mine when I had it. If I still owned one, I'd go yank the trim and check myself.
One of those sources was the 03 Matrix service manual, which shows the receiver location in this pic

I can't find any definitive source for the location in a Vibe or Matrix, but given the similarity to other Toyota products, there is this youtube video for an 03-08 Corolla

If its in the same place, then that would put it behind the trim panel above the one that you removed at the junkyard.
While typing this, I had an idea, and checked:
In http://forums.genvibe.com/phpBB3/viewto ... 28&t=47447 crispbacon posted a number of excellent photos of his Vibe interior with the trim removed. I grabbed one of them, cropped it, resized it and drew an arrow to what I'd wager is the receiver.

Great news, congrats on the fix!
