New Vibe Owner

Post by steven0054 »

Hey guys and gals, I'm a new and proud owner of an 05 Vibe. I love this car so much. It's not my first car, but its my first car ha. It came with 160,00 miles on it but its been kept in such good shape. I think it was a rental car. Either way it runs great for that much mileage. I want to give it a little more kick though. I have a base 1.8 I'm not sure if I want to modify this engine or swap. I haven't decided how much kick I want. Suggestions? oh and I haven't heard or read much of a V6 in a vibe. oh, the name is Steven btw!

Welcome to GenVibe Steve :D You can do a lot to these awesome cars. The sky is the limit .... eh ... or maybe your wallet $$$ is the limit  Anyways you'll have no regrets picking up this ride and based on it's mileage, it has only used up half of it's useful life so far ... if even that. Keep us informed on any mods you perform. Update profile so where know where you're from. Visit ofter :)

Will do, thanks! So have you heard of a engine bigger than a 4 cyl. in a vibe?

I haven't seen any mention of it. You'd probably be better off checking out matrixowners.com for such things, the mods around here tend to be a lot more tame.

Welcome to another Texan! Vibe looks nice! I almost went to Dallas to buy my 10 GT, a dealer had it in Corsicana and my daughter and I took a road trip one afternoon to pick it up.

Not much to do on these to increase the HP beyond the GM supercharger or a custom turbo. I doubt any larger motor (V6) would fit under the hood easily. Might be an interesting project, though.

Good luck!

Thanks guys! So the first thing I'm doing to the car, well besides the tune up when I bought it, is tint. I'll post a pic up when I get it done.

You definitely can't go wrong with tint! That was the first thing I did to my Vibe too ! What % are you going to get?

I would keep it legal, unless you have a tint place that will give you the sticker. But even then, many inspection places check the percentage now, and some cops & DPS officers have the tint gauges they use if it looks too dark to them.

Here is my son's Vibe with legal tint on the fronts, and one shade darker on the rest.

Just PMed you ;)!

We have 35% all around on both our Vibes and I couldn't be happier with it. It's dark enough to look good, but not too dark that it draws unwanted attention from cops or causes problems seeing at night. I'm not a fan of different %s either. I think it looks better to have one % all the way around. Just my $0.02 though.
