it's not the computer and you need a new mechanic if they're telling you that is the issue.

could be the purge valve or the vent valve. both relatively cheap parts last i looked for a first gen, and pretty easy to replace.

If you have a sunroof, there is a drain in each corner. One or more are likely plugged.

If no sunroof, check your windshield seal and for rust at the top of the windshield.

Re: Quick advice on a buy - '06 w/manny tran?

Regarding the manual tranny...yes, the 5 speed can be problematic. No, replacing the clutch won't change it. Neither will changing the computer.

That said, generally speaking at this point if the tranny were to be a problem, it should have surfaced based on age, different drivers, etc.

Yes, a 2009 Matrix XRS would be identical to your 09 Vibe GT. Basically any are legal in PA, barring that it's installed properly and doesn't cause a CEL that could give you emissions headache. AWD Vibes are just as reliable as the rest. However, the rear subframe is known to rot out, and the rear diff is known to have issues with the bearings in the nose cone (I think that's what it's called). Outside of those issues, it's still a reliable car. We have replaced 3-4 subframes on AWD Vibes,...
