(removed) !!!!! Stunningly beautiful. These were taken around 10:30 est over lake Erie. We may get lucky tonight and get a glimpse of these "northern lights". A pic of our sunset just an hour ago (facing west, Davis Besse nuclear power plant in the far distance). Forecast the next few hours is "partly cloudy" but so far it is extremely clear! We'll see ................
Same here. Someone made some changes recently (overnight that is) to where the pages now load with only a one second delay, instead of FIVE seconds! There must have been something clearly bogging down the speed on this site. Glad to be back to normal!
Thanks for the detailed poster ! I contacted Brett and plan on attending. Just a 90 minute drive for me so it won't be bad at all. Looking forward to another meet
I fear you'll have to use half of the part you bought as a new female connector and do the solder and heat shrink job you really didn't want to do. X2 ..... this is exactly what you'll have to do. My 2004 Vibe GT already had the drive side socket replaced by the prior owner before I purchased it. B...
Sounds like the work of Nick Hernandez " (kit222) on this forum. Vibe stock 2024 ..... Really ??? It's just another Vibe meet like we've been having for the past couple decades. Since many of the younger members who started out here, migrated over to that F***book site where they no longer incl...
Welcome to GeVibe. Seeing how you just joined, how about updating your profile showing location? $400 means this car was clearly abused or wrecked pretty good. Whenever I see bizarre electrical problems, the first thing I think of is "flooded car". You likely have no history of this vehicl...
Hmmmm ...... Interesting! I never get that command. But then I log out/in each time I visit. Never had a problem. It's just noticeably slower all of a sudden.
Nice work and thanks for sharing. Good thing you had experienced help to take on this job. My experience on these "newer" FWD cars is somewhat limited PLUS, I'm not a young kid anymore (officially on Medicare as of last year :x ) so I'm having certain jobs done for me, by others who I know...
Just got new tires put on this morning. See post: https://forums.genvibe.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=48742 While up on the lift, we looked over a few suspension components and other stuff. Found a loose tie rod, ripped drive side CV axle (only 40k miles on it since replaced) and sway bar links worn. ...
Well my 2004 Vibe GT just got new tires today ... BUT ... they cost me NOTHING! At least on the invoice they did list the price BUT I think it may be their cost, not retail cost. I perform HVAC services for this tire company and they offer me free tires for labor trade! Trust me, I have a LOT of fre...
I check in usually daily and contribute wherever I can. Not part of that F***book group which, unfortunately we lost a LOT of members to. Will keep my Vibes until they are no longer repairable. That's easily 20+ years down the road.
It seems nowadays compact cars like this have fallen a little out of favor over midsize SUVs. For me, I'll likely be sticking with the compact car thing. Yeah we somewhat looked at the Rav4, but was a bit on the bigger side for our needs. Lots of Rav4's out there too BUT very few Corrolla cross hyb...
Not sure on lubing up the cable/linkage ... BUT if the 3rd gear syncro is gone then so is 2 or 4? Doesn't one syncro control two gears? If so, wind out the lowest gear closest to the bad syncro, then shift into the next highest gear. This way you could still technically drive the car. Not sure if wh...
Do you think the problem could be low refrigerant, a sluggish capacity control valve or some other internal compressor issue? :? Possibly. Refrigerant and temperature are proportional, so when one goes up so does the other. However, once the compressor were to engage, one would think that the low p...
I'm amazed to read about people with the same car who have such low mileage! How do you do it? By driving a commercial/service vehicle for 25+ years! :D My 2009 Vibe GT sat sometimes for months at a time without being driven. One time the battery went dead due to not driving it. The first 30K miles...
Interesting point about the black center caps! Attached are the original OEM silver caps. Where are these rims located? I haven't been able to conquer the art of "mind reading" just yet! Any history behind them? Mileage, climate driven in, reason they're available, etc.? https://www....
A six month delay in progress report BUT well worth it. Now if you knew exactly what it was that blew this fuse? You don't want to go through this again. Just curious. Thanks
Hello Vibe community! I'd love to make it a head-turner and restore it completely, so any help would be appreciated. Welcome to GenVibe Rod. Update your profile showing your location. This could help us help you and you could possibly be one of our neighbors. So has this Vibe been sitting outdoors ...
If you are buying new I would look at the Corolla Cross or Corolla wagon. The Cross has more room if you are a large person. Well, I'm not replacing one of my Vibes BUT we are replacing the wife's G8GT. We decided on the 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid XSE and should have on in our driveway in a m...
Welcome to GenVibe Jack ;) That's a rare find at that mileage so you got lucky finding one. The two in my fleet have only 40k miles, and then 180k miles. One of them has the oil burning issue (known to happen to some 2.4L engines) and one does not. FYI ... you may want to add factory fog lights to t...
Glad you finally joined us "officially". It's unfortunate that this forum lost so many many members to that other "drama enriched" F***book site  to where it's not as active as it used to be. We need members like you to keep this site active and thriving well into the fu...
If you can wait till the fall/winter, I'll have my original OEM assembly, off of my 2004 Vibe GT, available to anyone who would want it. I'll be getting back on the LED special "high mount brake light" project, very similar to what I did to my 2009 Vibe Gt some 14 years ago. :o https://www...

Too bad Earl Scheib isn't around anymore
Good one J-mon I still remember seeing the ads in our local newspaper back in the 70's where they would paint any car for $39.99 I'd hate to see what the quality of any such job would look like
The short answer is NO! A good example is what a pint ... yeas I said pint, of paint costs for a small repair. My metallic orange (one of the most expensive colors) cost me $125/pint at PPG dealer. That's not counting activator or clearcoat or labor. If you find somebody who can do it between 500 &a...

Thanks. I’ve been putting off this repair. Hoping to do this under the glove box.
Several of us have already made this repair, some more than once! Lots of other posts on this repair also. It's not bad BUT the smaller your hands, the easier it will be to repair! Good luck
Late reply BUT glad you joined us here. Not very active anymore like it used to be many years ago BUT still a wealth of knowledge and info here. Share your experiences and Vibe repairs with us as they happen
I have a 2009 base model vibe, 2.4l 5-speed manual, fwd and am replacing the clutch because apparently the pressure plate felt the need to break in half  . That I would like to see! Do you have the cut-a-way or the service manuals to see a component breakdown? I have the full volume Helms bo...
Definitely hang onto it BUT get it out on the road at least once a month if not more frequent. This will keep it's joints and other vital components flexible, if that makes sense. Plus the tires won't get flat spots from sitting in the same position for too long. I had a couple years where my person...
There are probably some of us GenVibers who actually live directly in it's path. My place in Port Clinton/Catawba Island Ohio is VERY close to the center path this eclipse will be taking. If weather is good, I plan on heading over there to view!
not the worse looking thing but took a good 3 hours to get it done. PXL_20240224_234833743~2.jpg Looks real good. You got the best color thread too ;) Hopefully that red thread doesn't fade from the sun's UV rays after a few years. Stick around here for awhile and let us know how it looks then! Any...
I'm considering moving laterally into a 2009 FWD with 227,000, which looks like it would be a contender to hit 299,999. I'm pretty sure on the 2nd generation Vibes, the odometer actually surpasses the dreaded 299,999 mileage and continues to accrue. Also be leery of the larger 2.4L engine as many o...
Here's a few pics on my 2.4L clutch pedal. Not sure if this applies to the 1.8L engines. I have a snake camera which I may use to get even closer pics if needed. https://www.silveradosierra.com/cdn-cgi/image/format=auto,onerror=redirect,width=1920,height=1920,fit=scale-down//media/img_4238-jpg.39416...
Hello Vibe Friends! My starter went on my 2008 Vibe last week at 287,247. I checked my records and, sure enough, it was replaced at 261,575! At just over 25,000 miles that seems a bit premature! If it were in one if my Vibes, that could be roughly five years but in your case I'm guessing maybe one ...
I'd definitely give that a shot. Let us know how it turns out. I personally went a different route to "brightening up" my high mount 3rd brake light  https://www.silveradosierra.com/attachments/100_2767-jpg.967582/?hash=3394c003d3c600d34c27c4868694a963 https://www.silveradosierra.com/...
Thanks for inquiring about these seats. Interesting to see you still around here for close to 22 years ..... kudos to you ;) We have TWO 2nd gen Vibe GT's and the color is Gray, not blue. If yours resemble more of a blue then YES it could be from fading, sun damage, UV wear, etc. Are there a lot of ...
Can't add much to what you're asking for BUT seeing how we know your whereabouts (thanks for posting in your profile for us ;) ) my biggest question would be "how solid is the undercarriage and all body panels"? Seeing how you're up there in the Great White North, salt & brine destroy ...
My 2004 Vibe Gt already had the airbag replaced PRIOR to me obtaining ownership some 5 years ago. I'm getting the notices about the 2nd recall but seeing how nobody ever sits in the passenger seat (pretty much a work vehicle only) I just haven't put forth the effort to have it done yet. I DID finall...
I'm with J-mon on this one. If the clutch really went out you should have smelled the asbestos material grinding, or if the pressure plate exploded you would have heard it also. There's not much to keeping the driveline engaged which is the default position. You got my curiosity so when you DO solve...
only took me twenty one years, but happened today. Was wondering when you were finally going to hit that milestone :o Congrats! ;) From a forum that sees very little activity anymore, I sure hope the moderators keep it going for the sake of the few of us who plan on keeping our Vibes around to eter...
Nice work! ;) I've never had to mess with any of my tensioners yet BUT appreciate it when someone is smart enough and has the resources to create another option to solve a problem, and FIX it. I've had to fabricate several gizmo's and widgets in order to get me out of jams. Luckily I have the resour...
Nice work, even though it took you a while to get back on it! I'm pretty much the same way. Start 10 jobs and lucky f I get just a couple of them done. Anyways I can relate to exactly what yo went through and luckily, with as many donor Vibe cars out there, you made the better move gett...
