Re: Please add mandatory pics on 'For Sale' posts

I've always considered that pics were mandatory, if you want the thing to sell that is. I'm not sure how much effort it would be to enforce such a rule, more so given the response of mods/admins. I've had some questions and requests that have gone unanswered, and it can be frustrating, but when it g...

Wow, that's excellent, and definitely one for the books.

I tend to always suspect a component. Replace the X and see if the problem goes away, but cleaning connectors, I only tend to think of that related to battery terminals

Again, great find, really glad its fixed

Looks like the speedometer gets its signal from the ECM I know on non-ABS Vibes, the ECM gets its speed signal from the speed sensor on the tranny. If the battery has removeable caps, you might be able to get more life out of it by adding some distilled water, if the water level is low inside. But at 7 years old, its probably time for a new one. If you do replace the battery let us know if that fixes or changes anything.

First, check fluid level

When in a forward gear and you rev the engine, does the speedometer move even if the car doesn't? If so, you may have blown a CV joint.

If it makes the noise when the engine is cold, then my first step would be to run the cold engine a little with the serpentine belt removed. That will tell you if it is coming from something driven by the belt or not.

Obviously you don't want to run it long with the belt removed.

Seems unlikely that it would be the compressor clutch. The clutch itself never moves, it just generates a magnetic force that pulls the end late in so it grabs the spinning pulley. Similarly, there's a bearing for the pulley, but if it were bad, I'd expect it to make a noise when the AC was not runn...
