I think if it were me I'd first try to just unscrew the threadlocked bolts. If you end up shearing off the bolt heads, at least that would allow removing the coils to work on getting the rest out of the hole. The coils screw into the valve cover, not the head. I know that the computer is not involved in charging/voltage regulation in the 03's, I'd be extremely surprised if it was in your 05. My experience with those codes is that the 420 never went away and it took a new cat to remedy it. I had random 30X misfire codes from time to time, nothing consistent, and it could go months between recurrences, never did anything to address it.

everywhere I look, including the 03 matrix parts catalog pdf, only shows the cover as being a part of the airbag assembly. Doesn't mean there isn't a separate part number for it, just that I looked and can't find it.

a not uncommon aging problem in these cars is that over time, the door metal around the door stop can be slightly deformed causing the door stop to contact the window going up/down. Some people ground off the tip of the door stop. Nice fix to flip and repin the door stop

I wouldn't bother with the alternator, valve gaps, IACV valve, coils unless you think they are bad.

Maybe replace the PCV valve, and run a bottle of injector cleaner through it.

I confess to having never done this, but if its a liability thing, I guess I ought to in order to prevent me from suing myself. So, stupid question, in retorquing, do you loosen and retorque one nut at a time or do you just ensure they are still at least as tight as they are supposed to be?
