Sounds like you'd be lucky to get anything for a car that old with that many miles. Just to help out some I guess I could give you $1,000 for it, maybe $1,500 if the tires are good.
Out here it's pronghorn antelope, they're everywhere this time of year. In my yard, in my driveway, on the roads, everywhere. And they're remarkably stupid animals that don't just run in front of your car, they'll run straight into the side of it as well.
The squeal could be either a weak belt tensioner, or Jiffy Lube put the wrong size belt on. I'd bet that since he pointed the tensioner out they'll want you to replace that before they'll warranty the belt. Unfortunately you can only get another 28,000 miles from your Vibe, as they stop right at 299...
I would go to https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls and print the recall information, and take it to the dealer service dept. If they continue to play stupid I'd find another shop to do the repairs and then submit the claim form for reimbursement.
The guys at my tire shop seem to really hate the Toyota 76 ft/lb torque setting, one even told me they thought 100 should be the minimum on all wheels. They swear they hand torque to 80 on my cars but I always find one nut per wheel that's at least 100. Never have had a loose or cross threaded one, ...
How about some updates on how has everyone been doing with getting this last airbag recall completed ? I talked to a Buick dealership about 10 days ago and they still haven't gotten back with me like they said they were going to do. (Except for some salesman who called back within 2 minutes thinkin...
My daughter's 04 base Frosty still doesn't burn any oil after ~195k miles. My wife's 12 CR-V has burned about a quart between changes (7500 miles) since we bought it new eight years ago.
Congrats on the new Vibe. My first Vibe was on 04 Frosty with Moon & Tune that I bought used in 2006 with 38k on it, it now has ~195k and still runs good as new. The only part I've replaced, besides brake parts etc, is the starter. It's my daughter's car now, and other than the grill it looks id...

I run winter tires on both the 04 and 08. On Frosty because it's my daughter's only car and on Stealth cause it's an "extra" car and it's great to have the extra traction when needed. One set of Cooper Winterforce2 and another set of Firestone Winter-somethings. They're noisy most of the t...
I spent over an hour trying to drill out one of a set of spark plug defoulers, to try that remedy. I have a drill bit large enough, but don't have a drill that will accept it. So its just bloody murder trying to ream out enough metal to get an o2 sensor in there. I've done it twice now and it can b...
Welcome to the forum and congrats on a sweet ride. All three of mine use Mobil-1 0w-30 and a NAPA platinum synthetic filter, with about a 7,500 to 8,000 mile OCI. I'd be perfectly comfortable going up to 15,000 if they were driven that many miles in a year. I personally would stick with the 6 month/...
Followup #2: Changed the oil in Frosty last weekend and noticed that it was leaking again around the sensor, so I went ahead and replaced it. Looked at it yesterday and so far it's clean.
Both of my pumps got broke in the last crash I had, as well as the tank. The pumps just pull out of the tank and can be easily replaced, just set a bucket underneath before you pull one and let it drain. I picked up the tank and two pumps for just a few bucks at the local u-pull-it yard. You can buy...
Yeah, the crewman in red never makes it back anyway, so no mask needed. As I'm sitting here my neighbor across the road is having a party with maybe 30 - 40 people over. Not a mask anywhere, and teenagers giving 4-wheeler rides to little kids. Helmets and eye protection are for sissies, just like ma...
On my 04 resume has never worked the first time, but if I set the speed again resume works fine after that. Set-Cancel-Resume=nothing, Set-Cancel-Resume again=works just fine. Weird feature.
Over the past couple weeks I've talked to more people than I can count who kinda didn't feel good for a day or two, or had a mild cough, back in late March or April and are now convinced that they had the 'rona and are now immune, so they don't even need a mask.
Bad gas maybe? You could try some Heat or other fuel dryer maybe, and check/replace the fuel filter. Sorry, I can't think of anything else that you haven't already covered.
I just buy Toyota Type IV from the local Toyota dealer. Since it's a 60,000 mile or more interval I don't really care about saving a few bucks on fluid.
I would just drain it and replace the gasket. You know it should take about 3.5qt to refill from a drain, so just drain what will come out and put 3.5 qt back in. Now you've done a second drain & fill and should be close to right on the money.
Just the outlet and harness would work, you'd just have to drill the right size hole in the console to hold it. Depending on the year, y ou don't have to drill a hole. My console had a cap over the hole. I yanked the power outlet from my 03 and just put it straight into my 07. I can't remember whet...
Not sure on the Matrix, but the 03-04 Vibe center console also has a power outlet. When I was looking for a lid I ended up taking the entire console and wiring harness. The wiring is already there under the console, you just need the harness to connect it. I also bought replacement hinges from the T...
The quotes I heard from Trump was that it's no worse than the flu - which is pretty much correct. Except that it's not even remotely correct. Dr Anthony Fauci today in congressional testimony: “I mean, people always say, well, the flu does this, the flu does that,” Fauci said. “The flu has a mortal...
Wyoming is reporting zero confirmed cases at this time, but I think that's mostly because there's no testing taking place. Colorado went from it's first case on March 5 to 15 and counting today, so hard to believe we don't have any here yet. Meanwhile Baghdad Bob, aka DC Donnie, says it's all just m...
Interesting chart. I think that based on the response so far from our government we'll be on the yellow curve within a few weeks. But hey, the best way to keep the number of reported infections low is to just not test anyone! It's working! https://ourworldindata.org/uploads/2020/03/Flattening-the-cu...
I ground mine off and ground it off some more, and the clunk would eventually come back after awhile. Then last May the strap broke off, jammed the regulator and bent one of the arms. So I replaced the window regulator and got a strap from an 09 Matrix at a local u-pull-it yard, which is a completel...
Yesterday I finally got around to replacing the map light bulb with an LED on both the 04 and 05. The 04 burned out so I bought a pack of led bulbs on Amazon so I could do both. Somehow managed to blow the fuse on the 05 while I was putting the new bulb in, but lucky for me the fuse is in the engine...
My wife got me one similar to this: https://www.amazon.com/AUKEY-Holder-Compatible-iPhone-Samsung/dp/B07W4Z4SMZ/ref=sr_1_4?crid=P1NXSH8S52SP&keywords=car+cell+phone+holder&qid=1580345896&sprefix=car+cell+%2Caps%2C266&sr=8-4 a few years ago. It works great in the Vibe, I mainly use it...
My 2004 came with only one fob, so I bought another on Ebay and did the procedure zbyers posted (which I almost certainly found on this site way back when). It was a pain and took multiple attempts due to me missing steps or not being fast enough with other steps. But it worked, and the fob still wo...
My phone uploads pics directly to Google Photo. From there a click on "share" then "get link". Then I click the image button and insert the link. This is what I get: https://photos.app.goo.gl/jTCAx1H7cgKW48eZ9 I can download the image to my local drive and then add it as an attac...
I've never had any luck linking to google photos, if you figure it out please post how you got it to work. It could be a size issue I think, I'm able to post a pic by downloading it and then resizing to less than 1Mb.

strong showers and more powerful flushes. Hmmmm ..... Meteorological terms ... OR ... plumbing terms :? A reference to Dear Leader's recent remarks on the great plumbing disaster: "You turn on the faucet and you don't get any water. They take a shower and water comes dripping out. Just drippin...
Welcome to one of the friendliest forums on the innerwebs. I don't think I've ever seen the term "horrible build quality" and Vibe used in the same sentence before. NUMMI put out pretty solid cars. If you have salvage yards near by you may be able to scavenge most of the interior parts you...
It's not my "opinion", it's explained in the links I provided. Top Tier fuel contains detergent additives that engine manufacturers requested to improve the life and efficiency of their engines. No crap it's the same base gasoline. All the gasoline I buy here is produced in the same local ...
2) There's not really such a thing as "Top Tier" fuel. Just use a name brand, and you'll get the same performance as every other name brand. "Bob's Gas Station" may use the same fuel as the Shell down the way - but you can't be sure about the tank maintenance. That's all the nam...
I've had Vibes since 2006 and have never had any problem, other than deep snow, and in fact have always been impressed with how well the cars handle on snow and ice. I have Firestone Winterforce2 on my daughter's 2004, and Cooper Weathermaster2 (I think, they don't make this one anymore) on the 2008...
I've chased this problem on the 04 for years, and to some extent on the 05 now too. Some things I've found have helped: Stick to Top Tier gas only. Replace the air filter and clean the MAF on a regular basis, and disconnect the battery neg terminal for ~20 min when you do. Keep the tires around 35-3...
They must be pretty rare, I went looking and couldn't find a manual regulator. Didn't look as hard as if I actually needed one, but I did search some. All of mine are power. I've always had the window clunk issue on the 04, I ground the end of it down to almost nothing and it still hit. It finally b...
