Re: Question about AC compressor cycling (2002sportside)

Yea, I always thought that when the switch was off, that the power would no go to the compressor clutch no matter what.So if it is not the AC compressor cycling, what could cause the engine to bog down?It possibly could be a high electrical load coming on to the alternator - I thought maybe the elec...

Question about AC compressor cycling

Does anyone out there know the settings in which the AC compressor cycles on an 08 base Vibe? I was under the impression that it only cycled when the AC switch was on, when the switch is set to defrost, and any time the recirc button is engaged. My Vibe will bog down cruising down the road at normal ...

Re: keeping rear window clean (rntait)

I'm having the same issue on my 08. I have the GM mudflaps, and I can't see that they help keep the back window any cleaner.I remember the old station wagons of the 60s/70s used to have a deflector on the top/back of the station wagon that was supposed to keep the back window clean. Most of them wer...

Re: Price of an oil change at GM dealers... (Eloi)

I've just had my 4th oil change done at the dealership where I bought my 08. When I bought my Vibe, the dealer gave me a card that gaurantees oil changes for $24.95 for as long as I own the car. So even if the price of an oil change goes up to $100 - I still pay $24.95. I suppose it is just a gimmic...

Re: GM Card Bonus Earnings (HawaiiPontiacLover)

When I bought the 08 Vibe in May, the dealer said there was $1000 limit on the GM Card. That was when they were giving the big rebate plus the GM loyalty bonus if you traded in a GM. I had $1300 on my card, and they thought only $1000 would apply, but GM approved the total $1300. So between the reba...

Re: (northvibe)

I will do a search for the tsb list. I'll also try a temporary ground wire on the TB. Easy to do.Cruising = constant speed (60-65 mph) with light pressure on the accelerator - not increasing or decreasing speed.I'll probably just stop into the dealer and TRY to explain it to one of the service advis...

Re: (northvibe)

It has never happened when the cruise control is on. I don't use the cruise very much. It has happened usually about 15 - 20 minutes after starting up the engine - going down the road 60-65mph. It has happened on flat ground, and going up and down hills. I am not accelerating or decelerating when it...

Re: (northvibe)

08 base vibe fwd. It hasn't done it when the cruise is engaged. It's done it on flat ground as well as up and down hills. It has never done it just after the brake pedad was touched, so I doubt the caliper would be dragging.

Re: What's robbing my power? (BlueCrush)

It has never been hot out when it has happened. It is really weird. The engine doesn't sputter or anything, it just looses power for a short time.

Re: (ou.grizzly)

No big change in fuel mileage. Filled up today and averaged 31.2 for mostly highway driving. Can the dealer do any checks to confirm the cause without just starting to change parts?

What's robbing my power?

I got an '08 Vibe about 5 months ago and just turned over 8K miles. This issue has happened probably six or eight times. I will be cruising down the highway at a steady speed, and it will be like someone lightly steps on the brakes. After about 10 seconds, it seems like the power comes back to norma...

Sorry, I will run my steel wheels in the wintertime, too. All of the snow and salt in our area takes a toll on nice rims.

Scion tC rims with 45mm offset

hey all. I was thinking about replacing my stock 16" steel rims and hub caps with 17" Scion tC wheels with summer tires(215/45/ZR17). The Scion rims have a 45 mm offset. Through a search, it looks like whey will fit and not rub, but will the 45mm offset rims look ok? Will the tires be tuck...

Re: (Burns1210)

I had them put on at the Pontiac dealer when I bought the car. You can check the mud flaps at http://www.gmpartsdepartment.com. The front ones say for the GT only, but they fit my base Vibe fine.

Re: Best Mileage Yet (zionzr2)

I've only had my 08 for 7 weeks and just turned over 2400 miles. I have about a 45 mile daily commute - about 60% freeway. I have yet to average UNDER 30mpg on a tank!! The worst was 30.2 and the best was 32.3. I have tried both the ethanol blend (10%) and the straight unleaded. The 32.3 mpg tankful...

Re: the vibe can haul........ (BlueCrush)

Just got home from the Menard's myself with what I needed to redo the sidewalk by my house: 12 bags of Quik-Krete (60# X 12 = 720#) 4-8' 2x4s, plus misc stuff (you can't go to Menard's without getting misc stuff)I found that this would be a really cheap lowering kit (about $60). It dropped the rear ...

Re: (WaveAction)

I just got the GM mudflaps put on when I bought my 08 about a month ago. The GM flaps retail for $80 for the set of 4. There is a part number for the front set and a part number for the rear set (they are not the same). They are the same for the montone and the cladded models. I cant say for the aft...

Re: (Boomer Vibe) (altimar)

In the instructions for the '05, it says to turn the lamp control dial to the "door" position, but the '08 does not have this setting on the dial. It is just a high-to-low dimmer. The switch that is on the dome light itself has a switch with 3 settings: ON/OFF/DOOR.I followed the instructi...

Re: (Boomer Vibe) (moongdss)

On the '08 models, the dome light control is on the actual overhead light, not the instument panel switch. Do I just need to turn the dome light switch to "door" instead of the instrument panel switch? I will give the '05 procedure a try and post the results.

Re: Does the 2006 Vibe have programmable power door locks? (etd)

Any idea how to program the 08 model? I looked up the 05 procedure, but the interior light switch does not have the "door"setting on it, so I assume that this has changed from the 05 to the 08 model. Any help would be appreciated.
