Re: Looking for best price for Rostra cruise control (jkaiser)

I bought mine from http://thecruisecontrolstore.com and found a reputable mechanic who was willing to put it in (but in the reverse order, of course) . The prices may vary, but I had mine installed for $365 total for everything, taxes included. YMMV.

Re: Report: GM Will Speed Up Pontiac Vibe Development - GT/AWD Will "Likely" Return (ragingfish)

By reading this, I assume that this puts to rest--and debunks the rumor that the Matrix is being killed off and replaced by the Blade (Auris, etc.) once and for all?

If you don't want to go to the dealer, you might try eBay (speaking from personal experience here).

Re: Rostra Cruise Control

I mentioned a little while ago that I would post some pictures from my recent installation. These are of an almost identical setup in a 2003 Toyota Matrix XR and are meant to complement the ones that were originally in this thread:The engine bay area. Note how everything is laid out. A side view of ...

Re: Key Fob? (phreon)

Are all of your doors unlocked? On my Matrix, I'm 99% sure that you have to unlock all doors first by pressing unlock twice within 5 seconds on the fob, then you will be able to get the rear glass to open using that function on the remote--I believe using the trick you mentioned. At least that seems...

I'm just amazed at the price that Scosche wants for that. I purchased that exact same one for my radio at Wal-Mart for half the price!

Re: Rostra Cruise Control (kaelc)

Mine is now installed and seems to work very well. The part number is 250-1223 for the cruise control itself and the switch is 250-3742. Granted that I had this installed on a 2003 Matrix, rather than a Vibe... but they are the exact same car and everything should interchange without any issues. As ...

Re: Rostra Cruise Control (slingblade)

An update: After nearly two months of looking, I finally went out and purchased a Rostra cruise control kit (part #250-1223). It appears to be identical to the one in the pictures, too. If it arrives on Monday or Tuesday, as it is supposed to, I might have it installed by this time next week!

Re: Best head unit w/ aux. input on the front? (jkm311)

I know that this thread is somewhat old, but I wanted to weigh in, too. I have a JVC KD-G720, which has a USB aux input. It has been very useful so far, interfacing with USB flash drives and iPods. I had mine installed back in November and have no idea if they still make this model, but it is always...

Re: Why did you buy the Vibe?

You need another option on this poll: I got a Matrix instead. I would fall into that category...although I test drove--and liked the Vibe, too.

Re: (silvrhawk7)

Understood completely. I work in IT, as well and with the commute that I frequently make, there was one area in particular where the driver's carpet mat was starting to wear down from where the heel of my shoe was. The rubber mats are much more durable and will hopefully last the life of the vehicle...

Re: washing your car in the winter....

I washed mine last night after getting a dose of snow (and road salt) the night before. The doors did freeze, since it was only about 20 degrees outside, but I was able to muscle them open without any problems. I'm just glad that my Matrix has solid door handles on it. Had I tried the same thing in ...

Re: (zionzr2)

I'll second the Wal-Mart mats option. I bought a set of 4 heavy-duty ones for maybe $20 (U.S.) and then put the OEM carpet mats in the trunk as a makeshift cargo mat. Now I don't have to deal with the annoying sound of items sliding around in the back and the car is much easier to keep clean inside....

Re: (kostby)

May 19th works for me, if this is a general consensus from most of the others. I've been to Speedway on multiple occasions in the past and could easily get there again. Heck, I may even stop in Zionsville on the way in for a little nostalgic sightseeing, since I used to work there. Now as to the 23rd...

Re: (joatmon)

This is great, keep them coming! One big reason why I wanted a Matrix (or a Vibe, although I ended up getting the former) was for the ability to haul things, if need be. I wanted roughly the same amount of space as a small pickup truck, but without the rear wheel drive and with better gas mileage. T...

Re: Indianapolis Mini-meet feeler... (chemrebel)

Yes, there should be times in any of the above where I would be able to make it. Of course, there is a week sometime in June, where I will be out of state on vacation. Not sure when, though (yet). Otherwise, all should be good. I do agree with the previous post, though... if this accidentally gets t...

I know that this post is nearly a year old, but if something like this occurs in 2007, I am (depending on where in Indy) 45 min. to an hour and a half away and could easily make it; especially on a weekend.

Re: Rostra Cruise Control (zionzr2)

Glad to hear, thank you! I don't think that location would be awkward for me either, since my first two cars were both late 1980's model GM vehicles (an Oldsmobile and a Buick, respectively) and both had a cruise control switch in approximately the same spot. The difference, of course, appears to be...

Re: Rostra Cruise Control (zionzr2)

First of all, I know that this thread is very old, so I apologize for having to resurrect it. Unfortunately, it was the only one (from any forum that I have visited) that actually discusses and shows pictures of the cruise control system that I am wanting to install (in a 2003 Matrix, by the way). I...
