They sell actual o2 defoulers that bolt right on specifically for this purpose. No drilling or “spark plug defoulers” necessary. My car hasn’t had a cat for over a year now and never had a p0420. Just google search an o2 defouler and it’ll pop up

All vacuum lines were hooked up, but two were swapped that mount on one of those solenoids on the airbox. Runs mint now!

I’m driving it home tonight. Not a bad turnaround time for only working on it one day a week

Engine is in and runs, but won’t idle well. Live data on the scan tool shows both o2 sensors are dead. Thinking either a blown fuse or we forgot a ground somewhere. Either way it should be an easy fix. This one isn’t knocking or ticking at least so that’s a good start haha!

Put the new engine together on Sunday. Full gasket set, and timing set. Re used the spark plugs from the old engine since they only had 6k miles on them. Rings and bearings are original. Road trip went great till I was about 15 minutes from home on the return trip. Number 4 rod bearing left the chat. I’ve got a spare engine I will be prepping for install in the coming weeks with only 120-125k on it

It’s a hydraulic clutch, no cable. That being said, if it’s anything like my 03 there’s an adjustment rod up under the dash between the pedal and the master cylinder

My first move would’ve been new high quality fluid. I’m drying BG synchro shift 2 in mine, and will post updates on my thread when I get it done.

Anyway, it’s possible it was just low on fluid/old fluid.

If you go Milwaukee, the lowest prices I’ve found have been on Amazon. Craigslist/marketplace have them too from people that buy multiple large kits and some tools repeat. Home Depot is nice to compare in your hand, but way overpriced

If you buy loaded struts, they include the spring and top hat. By far the fastest and safest way, as they come pre assembled. No sketchy spring compressors needed. The noise on the first vibe you mentioned will likely be the front struts. Kind of a deep/dull clunk? Could also be swaybar end links. Compression testers are pretty cheap. When it turns over quickly it sounds like that cylinder isn’t making enough compression, or at least not as much as the others. I used a pry bar between the tensioner pulley and I think the water pump on my GT. Those hydraulic tensioner are stiff as a mf sometimes but they’ll go. My hex nut that’s cast into the idler arm is rounded off, so prybar was my only option

I used a heat gun to push out the front bumper on my dads 04 buick lesabre. It takes a little patience and you have to push from the back side, but it’s not too bad. Just don’t get it hot enough to hurt the paint or melt the plastic. Just warm enough to soften it a bit

1zz or 2zz? With the open deck block, even with rods and pistons, they can’t hold much power without aftermarket sleeves which can be pricy.

Probably better off doing a lotus take-off supercharger

Does BC racing make a coil for the vibe? The BC coils I’ve seen all have adjustable dampening rates so you can tune it for whatever ride you want, in addition to the usual height adjustment given with coils. Wheel size doesn’t necessarily contribute to worn suspension components, or the ride quality...

Check the rear subframe too. They have a tendency to rust out. Replaceable, yes. But finding a clean replacement at a decent price can be difficult

To me it sounds like a misfire as well. Typically that’s what the flashing check engine light is for. Next time when the engine is cold, try cycling the key to run a few times before actually starting it to prime the fuel system. If it starts right up after that replace the fuel pressure regulator

Before throwing parts at it, remove the belt and spin all the pulleys by hand. I’ve seen alternators and idler pulleys both make the sound you described. You’ll be able to tell which bearing is bad, as it’ll feel gritty.

I’ve heard redline MT90 fluid will extend the life of the bearings for quite some time, if you get it, plan on shanging the transmission fluid as soon as you get it home.

OR, start looking for a 6 speed to swap in. There’s several threads on how to do it

Can’t help much with the high idle off the top of my head, but I think I can help you diagnose the noise/vibration... To check the wheel bearings, jack the car up, grab the tire at the 12 and 6 o clock positions, and shake the tire in and out/up and down. If there’s any movement that wheel bearing i...
