2003 GT - Ruthenium Spark Plugs?

It's time to change the spark plugs in my 2003 Vibe GT and while sourcing OEM replacement plugs (Denso SK20R11) I noticed that NGK has a Ruthenium spark plug specified for use in the 2ZZ that claims longer life and better performance.

Has anyone tried these plugs, and if so, what were the results?

Re: 2003 Vibe GT Manual Possible Sale

Depending on the size and look of the dent and the peeling paint, I would think you should be able to get somewhere in the neighborhood of $6000 due to the low miles for a 20 year old car. Non-smokers with sensitive noses probably wouldn't go quite that high but affordable, reliable used cars are st...

Re: Intermittent, Crank no start when fuel is full

My 2003 GT (2ZZ) tries to start and dies after a fill-up. I just give it a bit of gas by lightly pumping the pedal as I start it and it fires right up and runs fine.

Other than when I fill it up, I never have to touch the gas pedal to start it. My other 2003 GT or my 2005 base never had this issue.

Re: Gear shift freely moves, will not engage

Shifter cable may have broken. Have someone move the shift lever in the car while you look under the hood to see if the lever on the transmission is moving properly. The transmission shift lever is located just below the battery. It is very easy to spot without having to move anything.

Re: WTB 2004-07 Vibe GT manual trans

Good luck! The only GTs that I could find currently for sale are the two that have already been posted. I spent over eight months looking nationwide for a 2003-2006 Vibe GT to replace the one totaled by a guy who ran a redlight. I think that 2003 had the highest number of 1st gen. Vibe GTs produced ...

Too bad you missed out on the car. Demand for reliable transportation has been exceptionally high the last year and a half so good deals go quick. I specifically wanted to replace my totaled 2003 GT with another 2003 GT and spent over six months looking for one in the continental US before I settled...

Re: Might be buying a Vibe

The only way to know if you will fit is to try it out. I'm 6'0" but thin, and could still fit in mine comfortably if I was 6'4". The seats are OK but nothing great. I tend to have to adjust myself occasionally on long trips. Otherwise, they are fine. The driver seat has a height adjustment...

Re: Tire help for a new Viber

I really like the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 A/S. The downside is that the are expensive and have only lasted about 30k miles on my Vibes, but they have been worth it for me. I've been looking at these. Do you know why they last so short for you? They have a 45k mile warranty. Probably because I drive ...

Re: Tire help for a new Viber

I really like the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 A/S. They are an excellent all season tire that grips well and resists hydroplaning. The downside is that the are expensive and have only lasted about 30k miles on my Vibes, but they have been worth it for me. I started with the PS 3+ A/S and transitioned to ...

Re: supercharger or turbo kit

Not a lot at this point. The TRD supercharger kits have always been rare so unless you can find one already on a car, your chances of finding one at all are slim. Monkeywrench Racing still shows a turbo kit in their catalog but it starts at $2900 and goes up considerably depending on options. https:...

Re: 2003 Vibe GT 6 speed manual shifter cables

Monkeywrench Racing shows that the same shifter cables work for all first generation Matrix/Vibe with the manual transmission. Don't know if that's actually true, but I've ordered some small parts from MWR before and been satisfied with the products and service I received. They have the shifter cabl...

My 2005 made it about 180k miles before the starter went out but I have no idea if it had been replaced before I bought the car used. When it went, it went fairly quickly. Stopped for lunch and it wouldn't start. Tapped on it and it started right up. That only worked a couple of times and I had to r...

Re: 03 GT heavy / jerky throttle

Also, the shifter action absolutely sucks, which I understand can be improved with brass shift bushings, so will try that as well. The shifter on my 03 GT sucked really bad too when I bought it in Dec. of 20. It was very vague and had me considering an aftermarket shifter. I purchased a set of soli...

Four of my six vehicles have manual transmissions including my current DD, a 2003 Vibe GT.

My last DD, a 2005 Vibe (still have it), is an automatic though.

I am on my third set of the now discontinued Michelin Pilot Sport 3+ A/S tires on my 2005 Vibe. My 2003 GT just got a set of the new Pilot Sport 4 A/S tires to replace the terrible Kuhmos that came on the car. I have almost a 100k miles worth of experience with the Pilot Sport all seasons and I like...

Re: CraftsmanQuad’s 03 GT

I am extremely pleased with the difference the solid shifter base bushings made compared to the original bushings especially since it was much cheaper than an aftermarket shifter. The shifter on my GT was the worst I've ever experienced, and I own a 76 F100 with a worn out three-on-the-tree. It stil...

I’ve also seen brass shift bushings are a good upgrade, but which end do they go on? The trans side or the knob side? Both? Don’t know if mine already has them My 2003 Vibe GT had a horrible shifter feel when I bought it in December. I was looking at aftermarket shifters when I saw that Monkey Wren...
