Re: Rocker Panel Replacement

Now that the weather is warming up, I'm getting ready to finish up the other side and finally get this car on the road. I have run into a slight issue, however. Just inside the pinch weld on the passenger side of the car, there's about a two inch gap rusted between the metal of the underside and the...

Re: Rocker Panel Replacement

CanadianYeti, where are you located? I'm asking because I need some body work done in a very similar area. My forward drivers side jack point collapsed due to rust as I was trying to jack it up to put winters on. I got quoted 1000 and 400. I don't quite trust the 400 because he's going to use 22 ga...

Re: Rocker Panel Replacement

Yes, my measurements are in millimeters. Glad to help keep a few of these cars on the road! The length in the document is equal to 36" but use whatever length you need.

Re: Rocker Panel Replacement

The rocker saga continues! Found some nice weather and got the welding on the driver's side finished up. It's not pretty, but bondo and paint make me the welder I ain't! Re: Rocker Panel Replacement

PXL_20201105_151102252.jpg Started welding in the inner rocker today after patching the rot above the pinch weld. It's my first time really welding so the whole process is a new experience (Go easy on my boogery welds  ). I have the sections of rocker I cut out to make measurements and the CAD...

Re: Scan Tool Find

Thanks for the information! While Tech2Win offers options for things like pulsing the abs module to bleed brakes and component relearns as well as stock ecu programming with a subscription to ACDelco, I will definitely look into techstream as well. So far I've had luck running things on a laptop wit...

Scan Tool Find

Puttering around on the internet, I happened to stumble across a website offering the GM specific scan tool the techs use called the Tech 2 without having to shell out a good chunk of change. The install is complicated and poorly instructed but seems to be the bee's knees once it works. I haven't pu...

Re: Hello! Just acquired a Vibe and joined the page!

For those interested, I've got a rocker thread going over on the exterior section with all the info I have so far! This car is honestly a mystery, I got it in a trade from a used car dealer who got it in a trade. It has evidence of being neglected (rotten rockers, dirty, leaves up the wazoo) but als...

Re: Rocker Panel Replacement

Honestly, I'd go for the first option. Quicker, easier, and your second idea isn't really necessary for all the car is. Can you CAD or draw up some dimensions for the rockers you make? Angles, bends, etc. I also need to repair some. I wish we could find some that were readily available. I would hav...

Rocker Panel Replacement

With today being a nicer weather day, I decided to start on my rocker panel replacement. I have some questions, but first I'll start off with the information I have. Replacement/aftermarket rockers don't seem to exist, and from the rocker cover/lip on the rear in the wheel well they seem to be an is...

I think he means they're rusted out.
Yeah, sadly I meant rusted out. Soon to be replaced though!

Custom Shift Knob

As a taller gent, the location of the shifter with the seat further back made for an uncomfortable shifting experience while driving. Having experience with a 3D printer and CAD software, I decided to try my hand at designing and printing a shift knob to improve the ergonomics of shifting. After a f...

Hello! Just acquired a Vibe and joined the page!

Hello, I'm a new member and a new 05 Vibe 5 speed owner. I currently live in Nova Scotia, Canada, and have a few upgrades and modifications in mind which I'd be glad to share on here! I'm an avid outdoorsman so I'm leaning on more of an all-terrain build with some quality of life improvements where ...
