It appears to me that there is some kind of design defect that causes the leaking in a car that is otherwise perfect for it's size and design. I will try to contact Pontiac and Toyota about it and ask the question. Jim C

I wish you luck. I tried everything I could think of, except a $2000 repair, to stop the leak. I finally found that putting a cheap green 6' x 9' tarp over the windshield and half the roof, with magnets, stopped the leak when the car is parked. Strangely, it doesn't leak when you are driving the car...

Caulking the roof rack attachment points didn't help in my case. Also a bead of caulk around the windshield molding did not help.

The only thing that helped is the tarp over the windshield, and over the front half of the roof rack.

My Vibe is in Florida! It is leaking in the same places, i.e. left and/or right side headliners as the other contributors. I took the car to a couple of body shops, and they told me the problem was because of an improperly installed replacement windshield. But I haven't heard this from other contrib...

The tarp is not the ideal solution, but it works and is inexpensive. I put the tarp on when there is rain forecast, and I can't park the car in my carport. I will take some photos of the rust, and of the tarp that solved the problem. In my case it is not leaking from the upper windshield. Mine is leaking from the Passenger side headliner. I tried all kinds of things, including caulking and tape over the windshield top, then discovered : 1. Does not leak while driving car. 2. While parked, If you use a small 5' x 7' tarp that covers the windshield back about half way, you get no leaks...

If the recirc gear problem is only present on a Vibe, the GM product, then it will never get fixed. We just have to put up with it.

I didn't do the repair myself because I am 76 years old, and can't get into tight spaces.

thanks for replying. No, sir, it is a part called 'HVAC A/C Heater Blend Door Actuator' that needs to be replaced. The part controls whether you get outside air or inside air for your Air Conditioner and heater. JC

Dear cthomasparr, apparently the rooftop aerial is subject to rust. It suddenly fell off my Vibe on Saturday! My impression is that if the base is still there, all I have to do is screw in a new mast. Is that correct or is there more to it?

I bought all three on eBay. All were US vendors, and all shipped promptly and were decent quality and refillable. I had to go to two vendors, because the vendor for the front wipers didn't have the rear wiper, and vice versa.

All three totaled less than $17 including shipping. JC

What I did is take the plastic cover loose, and put duct tape around the pins. It is just enough of a fix, as long as you don't slam the tailgate too hard. JC :lol:

Sorry, I forgot to mention there is no moon roof. The leak is just inside, maybe coming from the black rubber grommit by the rails on the roof.
