Re: Engine Blown @ 86,000?

It’s definitely the engine. When I had it towed to the shop, the professional parlance was “toast.”

Wondering if it’s a rod? Seems like something I could do myself.

Re: Engine Blown @ 86,000?

Oil was brand new from the dealer at 80,000 when I bought the car. On the day the engine went, it was at the right level and hadn’t turned to ‘coffee’ yet. Don’t recall if it was flashing; it was definitely on though.

Re: Engine Blown @ 86,000?

Did the temperature go nuts beforehand? or did you see? Last summer after purchasing the car, the serpentine snapped. Pulled to the shoulder before it overheated (although it got really hot). Had it towed home and immediately replace the belt. Coolant temperature has been right on target ever since...

Engine Blown @ 86,000?

My engine started knocking as I got close to home a month ago. Pulled off the valve cover when I got home, nothing looked visibly askew with the timing. Seems odd for a 1ZZ to just go kaput out of nowhere; has anyone else experienced a sudden severe knocking? It was enough to throw a code.

Re: Carbon Fiber Dash Project

Update!

No, it’s not perfect.

Yes, I’m proud of and happy with it. Learned a ton.

Soon to follow: center console (I have to widen the cupholders anyway for non-dollhouse sized drink containers) and the one gray piece behind the shifter.

Overlaying. Haven’t explored fabrication with carbon fiber yet. Will happen someday though, since my next home built CPU will be made from this.

Re: Do your fog lights suck?

Is there a drop-in LED replacement for the stock fogs? I actually find them far more useful than the ones on my Kia Soul (which is saying they’re way better than nothing), but I would like something to balance out with the LEDs I’m getting for the headlights.

Pioneer 731BT Upgrade

Just upgraded the head unit to a 2DIN Pioneer Model, so I can join the 2000s by having something to plug my phone into. :D Does anyone have experience with adding an aftermarket subwoofer in a Vibe? My first pick for location is underneath the driver seat. Going small, just enough to balance out the...
