Re: fuel door for 2003 vibe

My fuel door just busted off my 2003 as well.

I plan on "Aztec"ing the gas cap area.

Re: Took in for 2 recalls, returned back damaged

Call Badwrench and launch a formal complaint. Dealer's provide service under the Goodwrench name, and they take it very seriously, almost personally. If it wasn't for recalls and insurance auto body repairs (I want my Envy green dealer handled), I would never use a dealer. I would rather try to fix ...

Re: I made it....

So i pre-empted badwrench and spent the $1.90 for the PRNDL bulb and did it myself. It took me about 45 minutes to take apart the gear shifter panel, locate the bulb, go to Toyota, get bulb, come home and re-install. My opinion is badwrench does this recall without disconnecting the battery and it b...

Re: I made it....

I had the automatic transmission replaced at 257,000 then again at 268,000 because the first used one was faulty (hooray for 90 day warranties). So far, so good on the 2nd one. I also found my gas mileage went up a little over 5% once the new transmission was in. As a celebration, I had the two reca...

My next great achievement in life will be measured by 3 - 2003 envy vibes in one picture.

Re: I need new tires

I put Pirelli P4's on mine. $153.19 per tire, plus all applicable fees and taxes. I am in the process of replacing the front two. They handle wet like it was dry, and are above average for winter driving all-seasons (imo). Oh, and I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, where we just had the coldest w...

High Pitch whine at 3000 RPM

It started before I replaced my transmission (twice), and is still there today, so it's not my transmission. It's actually present at all times, but you can only hear in the back seat. When I hit 3000 rpm the whine kicks into high gear and permeates the entire car, but again louder in the backseat. ...

Re: At a crossroads

Tranny update: Way back on day 65, just short of 6,000 kms the first used tranny freezes, literally. There must have been some moisture in it, and when it dropped below -30 the fluid froze. So the second tranny shows up and is in 10 times better condition than the first one, and just to be sure that...

Re: High pitch whine or whistle

I have a similar issue with my 2003 Envy Vibe (automatic). It started before I replaced my transmission, and is still there today, so it's not my transmission. It's actually present at all times, but you can only hear in the back seat. When I hit 3000 rpm the whine kicks into high gear and permeates...

Re: 1st Gen Vibe Prices

Trade-in is designed for those who can't be bothered (lazy) with selling the car themselves. Wife was offered $2,280 for her 07 Optra, sold fo $6,000. They need to safety, clean-up, market, etc, and make a profit. I understand why they offer so low so I wasn't surprised.

Re: At a crossroads

Well, I've chosen to go the used tranny route, work will be done Monday/Tuesday. Sourced a 80,000 km used tranny with a 90 day warranty from our government run insurance provider. $500 for the tranny, $500 to install. Anything over 90 days is pretty much gravy, given i'd spend at least $15,000 on a ...

Re: At a crossroads

I'm in Canada.

I can get a used transmission for around $500, but that comes with a 30 day guarantee.

I put on 55,000 kms a year and would rather put in a re-manufactured transmission. If I decide that to keep this car I will (hopefully) drive it for at least another 2 years.

Re: New member from Barrie, ON. Canada

I have a two toned base 2003 Envy green Vibe, from what I have heard they only made 1,666 in that colour and distributed them based on dividing NA into 1,666 distinct zones (not sure on the criteria) with one for sale in each zone. Have never seen a breakdown on solid green or two-tone or base/gt/aw...

At a crossroads

I have a 2003 Automatic Envy Green Vibe, best car I have ever owned. But it appears that a transmission bearing is going. I've had this car for 192,000 of its 256,000 kms (120,000 of it's 40,000 miles). The car is in amazing shape, with some tiny rust spots where highway stones have chipped the pain...
