Re: 2004 Vibe GT possible oil leaks ???

I think if I ever have an issue like this I'll drive down to Mexico and have the work done there. Might as well get dental work while I'm at it.

Re: The Official "Price You Paid For Gas" Thread

Going through California, Oregon and Washington between March 18th-20th I never found anything below 2.36 a gallon, I believe. SInce I've been home on Vancouver Island the lowest was 86 cents/Litre at Costco for a week or so.

Re: New smaller size of Fram CH10358 oil filter

I just did an oil change on my 2010 1.8L, but I used a Napa Gold filter that was definitely similar to the older long style filter. It's possible that the shorter filter will fit as the engine has a spring loaded portion in the housing with a 1-2 cm play in it, but I'd definitely be more comfortable...

Re: What did you do to your Vibe today?

Today I drained the transmission fluid and oil and then put in a new filter. Next I filled the oil and transmission fluid. I'll be doing another transmission fluid drain/fill in a week or two because you only get about half of it each time. I last had the oil changed in Puerto Vallarta. They torqued...

Ha, ha, ha........I'm ROTFLMAO going back 7 years and reading Jake's post. Since 2011, I've had more interest in servicing my car and solving my car's problems at Toyota than at any GM dealership. I'm confident that all the incorrect information regarding Dexcool and Type IV fluid found in our Gen ...

I found a fully synthetic transmission fluid that claims to be WS compliant. It's called Klondike and is available at Napa in Canada (not sure about the US, sorry). Re: Can the 1st gen AWD tow? You bet!

We maxed out our towing capacity on a recent trip and probably took off some life span on the vehicle as a result, but it handled well and didn't cause any problems as long as we watched the tongue weight and didn't let the load get too far back. We're looking at getting a dedicated tow vehicle for ...

Re: Best All-Season Tire?

We have studded snow tires for the ugly times of year and just bought Michelin Premiers for the rest of the year (and to start a trip to Baja with new tires). Why the defenders? Performance combined with bang for your buck. Costco had a sale on them otherwise we'd probably have gone with the Pirellis.

I've had problems like this in our 2010, but not in our old 2006. The original pads and rotors lasted about 60k km. Replacement pads started to go after 6 months (under 10k) but got it fixed before the rotors took any damage. I got a tip to prevent this from a guy who did some work for us on a recen...

Wobble and steering wheel shake - odd source

Recently our 2010 base vibe has developed a low speed wobble somewhere in the front end. Here's the story along with the fix. At low speeds, we have been experiencing a significant wobble in the front end that you can feel quite noticeably, not just in the steering wheel, but also causing the whole ...

We have a nice light aluminum frame utility trailer, but we've put a fair bit of stuff in it. Building materials, a half cord of wood, two dirt bikes, appliances, a miniature horse, you name it, we've hauled it. Not that we haul a trailer often, but we use it for what it's made for.

Our 2005 Vibe (ordered custom from the dealership back at the end of '04, received in Dec) has approx. 270,000 km. So far, $150 for fixing an exhaust leak, new tires a few times, regular oil changes. I changed the front struts when I thought the wife had said they were reported as leaky when purchas...

You might also want to check the stabilizer assembly (connects the sway bar to the strut). It can clunk if either ball joint goes bad or it's loose.

Thanks for posting this howto - really makes this a trivial job in a lot of ways. I got my blower motor out and opened it up to find it was fouled up with dust from the brushes. Didn't think they'd wear that fast (car's just under 5 years old with around 125k kilometers on it). Anyway, I cleaned it ...

2005 Salsa (monotone mean it's all one color?). Looking at it in the day time, there's a 1" tear and a fair bit of scuffing around it. Too bad it's not fiberglass as it could be fixed up pretty easily.

Friend dinged my bumper - advice?

My wife was over at a friends house and her husband backed into our baby! There's a 3-5 inch long ding in what passes for a front bumper right above the drivers side fog light. Any advice on how to get this fixed without costing a friend a big chunk of change?

All wheel drive or 4 wheel drive with a standard transmission and possibly a more powerful motor (not a hopped up cam system like the GT - we'd want the lower end torque not the high end).
