My o2 was reading low but not low enough to trip a code. Replacing it didn't do jack for my mileage though. I've tried cleaning the MAF, changing the plugs, cleaning the VVT filter, injector cleaner, an Italian tune up, and no difference. I'm planning to try seafoaming it before I do my next oil cha...
I've never gotten more than 26mpg with mine and normally get 23mpg with my FWD car. I can't find anything wrong with my car even using a computer and looking at fuel trims. It does have 200k miles on it so I didn't expect to get 35+ that some people claim but I figured 30mpg or so. I think some of t...
I paid $2200 for my loaded 03 FWD auto back in January, granted it has 196k miles on it and a few small dents and dings but still $7k sounds crazy. Then again killing time on craigslist in the last few days I've seen an 03 toyota matrix with 100k miles asking $10k LOL and an 04 matrix with 133k mile...
Assuming you are talking about an area that won't be seen I'd do and have done the drill a hole and zip tie thing. My friend's wife just did the same thing in her minivan. It destroyed the flex pipe section of her exhaust, the cat, put a hole in the gas tank, and put a hole in the coolant pipe that ...
Growing the corn and producing the ethanol make it a wash at best as far as the environment goes. If we were using one of the many plants that are better than corn to make it from then it would make a lot more environmental sense.
Get the misfire fixed and see if that also fixes the cat code. Swap the coils around and see if you still get a misfire on the same cylinder or if it moves with the coil.
I really doubt the cooling fan hasn't worked since 08. Engine would have blown up long ago. Probably just happened.
Did they just hook the cooling lines for the trans together?
I just put the Castrol stuff in mine last month and no problems so far. Mine has 200k miles on it and the fluid looks like it hasn't been changed ever. I just changed what was in the pan and will do that at least one more time when I changed the oil again.
big time mountain biker here. I even built my own kinda bike stand in the back of my vibe for me to stand my bike up to and from the trails. . I have two fork mounts bolted to the track system in the back. May have copied it off you :). Two of the three bikes I've had in there are a pita to fit the...
I run a STR miata and yes it is very addictive. I damaged something in the miata's engine at my last autox and am in the middle of swapping in my back up drivetrain. I've never ran my vibe and don't really plan too. If it were a manual I probably would while the miata is down but I don't trust my 20...
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-OyDRta6I0mI/T9kXhODJ1cI/AAAAAAAAA8c/K5VaYkIyiSk/s640/IMG_0531.JPG I put an old set of 15" rims I had left over after I sold my old dodge caravan on mine. The vibe came with generic mud/snow tires on it's stock 16" rims and my 15" rims had a brand ne...
40-60% off what it would be worth with a normal title. Even then it can be a pita to find somebody to buy it. Just have to keep dropping the price till somebody will take it. I'd say the $4k isn't that crazy. BTW around here a salvage title means it can't be driven on the road at all. My wrecked mia...
Most of the 1 1/4 bike racks also come with an adapter to use it with 2" receivers. I'd rather go that way then converting a 2" to 1 1/4" since that will put more stress on the 1 1/4" receiver.
15 inch tires... you probably have the smoothest riding Vibe here! It does ride better. Wasn't really expecting much but it is noticeable. I'm really hoping these will give me a bit better gas mileage too. They are lighter and I have regular street tread now instead of 4x4 tread. I thought they loo...
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-OyDRta6I0mI/T9kXhODJ1cI/AAAAAAAAA8c/K5VaYkIyiSk/s720/IMG_0531.JPG I know they are awesome. Came off my old 89 dodge caravan I finally sold today. The vibe came with mud/snow tires mounted on it stock 16" rims and I didn't care for all the noise they made. The...
I wouldn't pay $4500 for a car with 270k on it. I'd keep looking for something with a lot less miles for that kind of money. At $2k or less it is one thing but not for that much. I just bought my 03 with 200k miles on it for $2200. It still runs and drives fine but I wouldn't have even looked at it ...
$2200
Just bought it a couple months ago. It is an auto with the moon and tunes package but does have 200k miles on it and had a few minor problems. Still think I got a fairly good deal.
Cleaned the maf, replaced the o2 sensor, changed the plugs, replaced the intake manifold gasket(had a code), and fuel trim numbers look ok to me and still get bad gas mileage. nearly 50/50 city and highway 23.6mpg. Guess I'll try cleaning the VVT filter next since I just learned about it. Hell if I ...
I've never done rallycross but I assume it is about the same as autox. To do it all you really need to do is show up and have a car that passes safety tech. How picky they are will vary from area to area but the biggies are the battery needs to be secure and the throttle return, make sure the thrott...
I bought the paid version of torque last night and it does show short term and long term fuel trim. It mainly looks like they contradict each other. One will go -5% and the other will go +5% but I haven't plaid with it much yet. During my drive home I did get a few 10+% spikes in the long term mainl...
Most of the things I've come across say it isn't the o2 sensor. That the computer does a diagnostic on the o2 sensor to make sure it is ok before throwing this code. If the o2 sensor doesn't come back ok it throws a code for the o2 sensor instead but I don't know. I just found out I can see my fuel ...
Got a chance to check for vacuum leaks and found nothing. Car pulls a steady 18 on my vacuum gauge. Also checked the PCV while I was at it and it seems to be working fine.
This car has 200k miles on it. I've already replaced the intake gasket, old one looked fine. I've cleaned the maf and ran techron through it. I don't see any obvious vacuum leaks but I'll look harder in the morning. http://repairpal.com/OBD-II-Code-P0171-and-P0174That page says a good way to check t...
I do but with my miata not the vibe. I'm sure the vibe will end up being used at some point though. Need to swap out the drivetrain out of the miata her really soon.
I was on the way home from an autox event in the miata and ran over some road debris and my spare was flat. I was lucky I take an air tank with me to events and also lucky that several other autoxers saw me and stopped with another air tank to top my spare tire off.
Second tank and I'm up to 22mpg. Still had my lean issue for a bit of this tank but I also had about 90 miles of highway driving after fixing it on this one. Was hoping that would bring my average up more than that.
miata is a manual and no way in hell I would own an automatic miata. The vibe is automatic because that is what I found and it was cheap. If I had had a choice I would have taken a manual but having an automatic isn't that huge of a problem in a commuter vibe.
Makes me not feel so bad about my 18mpg and nice to see another local . Mine had a code for running lean that I think I've fixed so I expect better out of this tank.
Just in case anybody else runs into this problem. After replacing the resistor pack my fan still only worked on high. Busted out my multimeter and the switch and resistor both checked out fine. Before putting my fist through the window I decided to try using some electrical parts cleaner on the resis...
I just bought my vibe a few weeks ago and it came with all the mount points for the switch broken and the switches just laying inside the door. I had planned to drill a hole all the way through that front mount like you are thinking about doing but I ended just using super glue on every point the co...
When you say two cans do you mean quart cans or gallon cans? I can't imagine it taking 2 gallons. I'm probably going to skip doing the sides and tailgate.
Fixed the recirc flapper motor and replaced the clogged cabin filter. That took care of the two of my problems. I also replaced the resistor pack but the blower fan still only works on high. Looking like the switch itself is bad.
Why does it take a special make of a 3 series to keep up with a freaking mustang.Come on people. This is a none issue. If you buy a mustang v6 with the intention of tracking it uUpgrading the drive shaft isn't a big deal. Otherwise don't worry about it.
Quote, originally posted by 09vGT »WOW. I never would've thought...... I'll scratch that off the list for a next car. At least the V6. Not that I would go that fast, but dang. Then what is the problem?
