Re: (renate)

We are both 64 years young. 2008 Vibe with Manual Tranny- traded in a 2004 with automatic. Kind of old fashioned- we both prefer a standard= better gas mileage and fewer costs down the road if you plan to keep the vehicle for a long time. Sometimes we hand down the vehicles to the kids- my son just ...

Re: Oldtimer New Viber (VivaVibe)

Vibe's a great ride for us old folks. Nice roof rack to put the mountain bikes on and room for the tent and backpacks in the back with seats folded down. No room for kids in the back- soccer moms need a van. We love our little Vibe- and by the way- my wife and I are both 62 years young. Vibe was des...

Re: new member (ANO_Vibe)

Mileage seems about right based upon our experience with a 2004 auto tranny Vibe with 30K miles on it. Right now we get in the low to mid 20's with studded snow tires and the cold weather in Maine. This is commuting mileage, not highway. The remote starter probably doesn't help either. The vibe is t...

Re: Help: Are Studded Snow Tires Illegal on a Vibe?? (trdvibe)

Studs are legal in Maine seasonally. (Hear that guys!)The concern is that we cannot obtain an H speed rated studded tire. I have the base vibe, not the GT.Seems like other people are running studs, so it must be safe enough and I assume legal in other states. What is not safe is running a car with a...

Re: Help: Are Studded Snow Tires Illegal on a Vibe?? (ragingfish)

I realize that changing tire ratings would have some affect on high speed maneuvering, HOWEVER, when we get lots of good, old fashioned, wet, icy, stuff on our roads, which is frequently up here, then traction, maneuvering, and evasive maneuvers become fraught with peril. Believe it or not, but stud...

Help: Are Studded Snow Tires Illegal on a Vibe??

I live in Maine on a gravel road which is icy all winter. I did not look at getting the AWD Vibe, since we have had excellent results on our icy road using studded snow tires on our Chevy Prizms. With winter now approaching, the VIP Tire Dealer refuses to install studded snow tires, as they only com...

Re: What Pontiac DOESN'T tell you about the 2005s! (de387)

The factory crossbars are useless. We got the GM (Thule) cross bars and the GM (Thule) bike racks from the Dealer and believe it or not they cost less than from the local neighborhood bike shop Thule dealer. The cross bars came right from the Thule Warehouse and the Bike Racks have a GM emblem but a...

Re: 05 Vibe vs. 04 Forester...Interesting comparison. (Bobbyg123)

I looked at new and used Subaru Legacy wagons before purchasing the Vibe. One thing I was disappointed to find was a 2000 Legacy with 36K miles on it and when I road tested it found the clutch was slipping. After having driven one Prizm which I just sold with 180K miles and another that has 121K on ...

Re: New Virtual Vibe (Fialchar)

How about a sporty little car based mini-pickup?? Remember the old el-Camino or Ranchero. Should be larger and sportier than the old VW Rabbit pickup. A contemporary challenger would be the Subaru Baja- a very attractive little vehicle, indeed!!I have always felt that a FWD pickup would create a new...

This was a $1000 "Private Offer" dealer promo 0431CAK, 0432CAK, etc. and was offered due to my having done an internet location for a GM car and I was a GM Card holder.

Re: US - Northeast, where is everyone? (NSimkins)

We're from Maine and found this forum helpful during our search phase. 2004 Salsaautopower packagemoon and tunes16" alloysWould have preferred a 5 speed but hard to find one with the right accessories. The Vibe is a perfect fit for our needs, even though we do no fit the "target" demo...

Re: average age of vibe owners.... (Abby-vibe03)

Another thought from the "gray haired" set. My wife had an original brand new 1964 VW Beetle and later we had a 71 Squareback. Her Cousin still has her 69 Karmann Ghia. She was driving a Chevy Prizm, ane we had several Prizms over the years. I just got rid of the 94 with 175K miles on it a...

Re: average age of vibe owners.... (Abby-vibe03)

I, too was curious as to the age of the target customer and the sales manager at the dealership where I purchased our Vibe was so kind as to share the sales manual data with me. There in print, the target age was stated as 25- 35. I was not surprised, but I did tell him that it seems like the demogr...

Re: GM Card - $1,000 Bonus (jake75)

I used my $1000 GM bonus rebate to purchase a new 2004 Vibe for my wife. This particular bonus was offered because I had done an internet search for this vehicle and was valid for 5/18- 6/01 and was on top of the regular 2000 rebate. This was the clincher, but I waited until the June rebate program ...

Vibe versus Prizm

Just sold my oldest (1994)Geo (Chevy Prizm) which had logged 175000 miles and still running great but I did not want to sink more money into the AC which needed a charge. One son is driving a 97 Prizm which I bought new and now has 125000 miles while my wife is driving a 2002 (last model year). Anot...
