Silverstars... why not Hella?.

Post by DavidPIL »

Hey all...I'm sure I'm not the first to know this... but everyone always talks up the Hella horns, why not Hella Optilux XP Pure White replacement bulbs? The H4 12v with 55w/60w has a lifetime warranty. I read somewhere they had a 4100k color temp, though I've tried to find it again without luck. Found em at http://www.seffects.com/ but I'm sure they're available elsewhere. If someone has these, tell us what you think....Dave

Well, I won't try them for one reason alone. Not DOT approved = for off-road use.
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!

Hi raging...I think that sight didn't specify the XP and the XB bulbs. The XP bulbs at 60/55 watts are DOT approved, the XB bulbs at 100/80 watts are for off-road only. That sight didn't have anything differenciating the 2 though Hella's sight did. Dave

If they are the same price or cheaper than the silverstars then I might try them when mine burn out.

I wish I would have seen this thread before I bought my Silver Stars. Haha. I love the SS's and all, but I know they're going to burn out in about a year, and that blows.

I just installed the European SilverStars and so far they look good and are bright. Not as white as their american counterpart but we'll see how long these last.
