Battery Problem

Post by mjohnson »

Brought home my new vehicle last Tuesday and have had a problem with the battery running down - had to jump it twice in the first week! Service can't find the problem. Has anyone experienced anything like this? When it's running, I love it !

I've had no battery problems at all. Sounds like you have a valid concern there. Good luck figuring it out. Let us know what you find.

Did they charge the battery, replace it, or jump start you and send you on your way with a smile and a wave? (Forgive the last comment)Seriously, if the battery itself is not defective, there are relatively few things that can draw enough electricity when the ignition is off to drain a battery, say overnight. Lighting is something you should check out. If you or a mechanic has an ammeter, check the current draw at the battery terminal with the ignition off and doors closed.

Just got the car back today. They replaced the battery and stated it was defective. So far so good. Though, i find myself running out to start it up every couple of hours out of paranoia

Did they do any test or just replace the battery? I know that they said it was a defective battery but did they actually show you? I guess that I just don't trust dealer mechanics.

You make a good point. They indicated they tested the battery and electrical system. Said the battery was not holding the charge, so they replaced it - but I didn't see it for myself. Thanks for the reminder though, I plan to be a more invloved customer next time (hopefully there won't be a next time.)
