My glove box did not operate properly for a number of years the damper was removed because the lug on the glove box had basically separated and was inoperable. After about 4 or 5 years I decided to fix it the damper still works well. I used two JB weld products. One kwikset steel two-part epoxy and their version of super glue called Super Weld. I used baking soda as an accelerant on the super weld which made it set instantly and then I put the kwick set to part epoxy on I show how I reinforced it, my humble opinion it is better than the original. I hope this helps somebody.
