2009/2010 Fog light switch

Hey Y'all! I currently a new owner of a 2010 Pontiac vibe 2.4L I have fog lights on the car that's factory. Only problem i like to run the fog lights before it gets too dark outside. My dad is a mechanic and he has built a lot of cars in his day. We can seem to figure out how to make the fog lights come on instead of the headlights. Can someone please assist with this.
