GM Service

Post by vivianyorke »

I took my Vibe in for its first oil change yesterday, to my local dealership (where I did NOT buy the car). I've never gone there for service before, so I wasn't sure what to expect.Well, I have to admit that it was a very good experience. It was extremely well organized... from dropping it off, to discussing my issues, to picking it up. The mechanic came out and explained everything he did. I was pleasantly surprised. And, the oil filter only cost $9 and change (Cdn). So, not bad.

Good to hear My sister-in-law works at the dealer I order my car from and her job is to ensure people have a wonderful experience with her service dept. Hopefully similar work is being done in all GM dealers

I wish this was the case but it isn't. Oil changes are fairly simple. Wait until you go in with a real problem. That is were GM service DOES NOT shine.

Depends on the dealer, I think. When I took my GT in and had them look at the rear wheel alignment (didn't look right to me), they called the Nummi plant right there in front of me to check on what it's supposed to be.Was very happy about that.

I still have yet to see how reputable, friendly, and efficient one of my local GM-Pontiac Service department holds up to be. At least I have a choice of 2 Pontiac dealerships to try out in my area before I would have to travel some distance to get service work done. With my former car, the Cavalier, I had excellent service from my local Chevrolet dealership, but unfortunately the poor quality of the vehicle and GM's flat out refusal to take blame for any problems I was having (I always got the "Turn your radio up" answer) discourages me from going to dealers for service as often as I should.

Well I live in Detroit and you can't throw a rock around here without hitting a GM dealership. I have been to one Chevy delership and three Pontiac/GMC dealerships. All of them were bad experiences except for one, and that was for an oil change. They are poorly trained. And definitely NOT customer focused. Maybe it is because they figure they have a captive audience. Well, they lost this customer.

I have been visiting here since Early June and I am just figuring out a few peoples stories. I confess I used a cheap trick though.I clicked on his name then down at the bottom there is a link to "topics this user has participated in" to find his posts. Give it a try.

Sorry about the confusion. I got off topic a bit. Just my frustration I guess.

You were responding to a post about GM Service and you certainly have a wealth of experience with warranty issues. I am frosty with GM and I haven't even got my car yet, so I slip in my little $0.02 with every post (see signature). It is good to link posts together so the issues are tied somehow don't you think?

Actually it was a Pontiac/GMC/Toyota dealership, but you are correct. The Toyota dealership didn't help either.

No need now. GM has agreed to buy this "thing" back. Now my wife gets the new car (non-GM) and I will driver her old car. Oh well, at least hers runs.

No, I actually bought it from Noonan in Sterling Hts. I also heard from my attorney that Noonan refused GM when GM asked Noonan to buy it back. Customer focus????
