HVAC Blower Fan Removal

Post by striker1211 »

This took me 5 minutes with taking pictures with the proper tools:
Phillips Screwdriver
10mm Socket
7/32 Socket (5.5mm)
MAYBE a flathead for plastic pcm pins.

[edit] Just noticed there is already a tutorial for this... oh well.

Image
Unscrew phillips screw from glove box support arm.

Image
Remove two plastic retaining pins. It was easier for me to just pull between the PCM and the plastic to get the pins out a little and then grab them.

Image
Remove 2 10mm (or phillips) bolts holding the PCM mounting bracket.

Image
Swing itout of the way taking care not to rip any wires out of the harness. You do not have to disconnect anything from here.

Disconnect the wiring harness from the motor

Image
Disconnect the rubber tube at the end closest to the firewall (engine)

Image
Remove 3 7/32 screws. 5.5mm in metric. Careful here because the motor is kind of heavy and it will be right on your face.

Bonus: While you are in there change your air filter like I did :)

Motor outside of cage.

Good pics and good write-up! It was definitely a simple job. It took me about 15 minutes though trying to find the right socket though lol.
