Used car prices sure are high. Seems a lot for a car that will soon be 5 model years old, though the low miles is a positive.
At one time a similar brand new Matrix was being advertised here for about $16,500.
This weekend Toyota has been advertising 0% financing on most models including "Corolla". Since they now refer to the Matrix as a "Corolla Matrix" maybe that applies to the Matrix as well.

edit 5/29/12 - when I first posted that link, the listed price was $58K. Today the listing is $11K. Must be on clearance ;)

Dealer retail is about $12,500 per Edmunds, so I agree that prices sure are high all around. FWIW I paid $12,400 for a 2010 GT with 36K miles from a dealer 6 months ago. They dropped the price from $13,900. Yes, it needed about $500 of reconditioning and I bought new tires for it, but it was a good deal I couldn't pass up. If you like this one, certainly work them down on the price. Something in the low 11's would be great. Manual trans cars are usually harder to sell, so that is a factor in your favor, and the low mileage adds probably $750-800 to the value.

Good luck on it!

Try to talk him down on the price. Though in all fairness a 2008 Vibe was for sale near my area for $14K with 40K and it sold faster than one with 94K for $8500 (though that one had been in an accident). The one with 94K was sent to auction.

I say look for an '09. You get the new body style and more standard equipment.

The 07 I posted a link to was initially a joke, the listing had the price at $58K. They seemed to have caught their error and are now offering it at $11K. It is a year older than the 08 moutaintools initially asked about but the listing says it only has 12K miles, and also has an automatic tranny, alloy wheels and side air bags, If I had to choose between the two, I'd probably go for the 07.

Both are the absolutely most desirable color scheme of silver with gray cladding. ;)
