Had some trouble with VIP

I have an 05 Vibe AWD with a separate set of mounted studded snows. Last November I took the car to VIP to get the snows put on. I was pressed for time. I got the car back and noticed when I got home there were only three tires back there. They never found the fourth tire or rim. So they will replace the rim and the tire. I wasn't quite ready to put on a new set, but it looks like I will have to do that. They said they would give me a substantial discount on the rest of the tires. What would any of you do? Suggestions for kinds? I never thought of a summer tire, though I like the sound of it. What does DWS mean (Continental)? I'd appreciate any words steering me along a path of understanding. pretty sure DWS is Dry, Wet, Snow. Ive seen that on a few tires.
