First, great forum! Lots of topics and know-how, really glad I found it!I havent found any topics dealing with 2009 models specifically, lots of posts though, I think Im starting to understand what involved.1. is the AC Delco D1919E Cruise Control Assembly compatible with my '09?Rockauto website indicates this stalk is for '03-'08 Vibes but maybe someone here knows if it'll work in an '09.
After getting behind the airbag it looks much like the pics in chicharrones How-to for '05-'08 models. I dont have a digital camera to upload some pics yet, but Ill post some info Ive dug up elsewhere and maybe create an econo how-to for '09 Vibes and '09-** Matrixes if its possible once I get something working.I now have a photocopy of the cruise control wiring schematic1. I have yet to see the actual cruise control stalk itself, would anyone care to upload a pic from their '09?2. I need the distance between holes of the mount for the stalk in an '08 or earlier installation because Im still holding onto the hope I can get AC Delco Part D1919E working because itll cost half what Illl get at a dealershipSo far, Pontiac and Toyota dealerships can provide the stalk for $120 & $160 respectively here in Canada eh. Toyota will sell a kit for $70 more with DIY instructions but its really nothing more than a stalk, wire(s), screws, a new cover plate judging from the info Ive gathered so far, maybe Ill be proven wrong on that. Im not putting any faith in AC Delco making a stalk available for '09 models.Rostra precision controls sells stocks, the closest match is p/n 250-1731 for 09 Pontiac Vibe (A/T) & 09 Toyota Corolla (A/T M/T). My car is M/T so Ive got to contact Rostra.com regarding M/T plus pricing and availability. From what Ive seen in my Vibe the two mounting holes for the stalk are pre-tapped. The ground wire for the horn isnt green (Ill verify if its not black, and edit if necessary), the plug is different than those pics in chicharrones How-to. Instead of 6 across its only two, it grounds to the underside of the airbag and according to the schematic I have there are only two wires leading out of the stalk. more to come...

Hope it doesn't come to that, somebody here will come through for you.

GM dealers sell the stalk (no wires incl) for $140 and the plug with wires for $40. OUCH!Toyota wants $232 four a 4 pc kit that includes the aforementioned plus screws, new plastic cover and instructions. The '09 doesnt require cutting, it has two plastic covers, one on each side of the wheel, the mounting holes are pre-tapped to I dont know what.
Is it because you've been busy or did you come up against an obstacle? I'm trying to decide how to get it done, and whether to buy parts or not.On a side note, where did you find the screws to remove the airbag? I've felt around and looked for screws on the wheel, but didn't find anything. Are they inside the access panels on the wheel? Thanks a bunch!
I have been in contact with Rostra. I asked if the 250-1731 is correct for the 2009-10 Vibe with manual transmission because their web site danced around that. They said it will work and they have fixed there web site to reflect that! http://www.rostra.com/cruise-control.htm So, I am going to have my local auto repair shop do me a install after I get them up to speed. I had to argue that it is just a plug and play, but I think they are coming around how easy that it actually is.I cant wait,... I keep thinking that I'm going to get a speeding ticket due to that I'm always going too fast,... going slow, then too fast, always looking at the dang speedometer. Now I can just relax! ..Good price $161.39 at Simmit Racing : http://www.summitracing.com/parts/RPC-250-1731/
DONE! I got a Rostra 250-1731 Kit,... and had my local car shop install it. After many E-mail, phone calls, discussions my shop put it in with no problems, works great! It does NOT require a clutch switch. It did require a little cutting where the stalk come thru. He said there was no proliferated cut outs. Anyway, I am happy, it didnt cost a fortune either. $180.00 I paid for the kit. A hour or so of Labor$$$ (not too much) and thats all there was to it! Thanks GenVibe and all the guys on here, I would have never got it done with out ya all!
Just wanted to update this thread as the right side piece on the steering wheel to accommodate the cruise control stalk is about $5.00 cost, list is around $9.00 via Toyota. By purchasing this right side panel, no cutting is needed.

Here is a picture!
