Vibe Fog Light Removal

Post by skipatrol »

Help!Does anybody know how to remove the fog lights on a 2003 Vibe? I had a stone smash the glass and although I've stuck my head behind the bumper and splash guard, I cannot figure out how to actually remove the assembly. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Any links to schematics or visual diagrams would be great too!FYI. Sit down if you are planning to buy a replacement from the dealer. I was shocked when they told me it was $250 each!!CMT

did you check the local junkyard or eBay? That is your best bet to get a replacement fog at reasonable price

do you have the owners manual. dont remember if they show you how to replace the fog lamp. but once you get it out you can also go aftermarket for like 60 bucks and get some with halo rings... if you like that style. or you can get some basic fogs and wire them up to a switch. just an idea for you.Did you also try a search in DIY section here? it might bring something up.GL

Mrizzle05:Owners manual shows you how to push buttons and turn switches. Actual lamp removal is easy, it's the removal of the housing that is a (removed). Without totally removing the front bumper (which I may have to do), I cannot figure out how to release the assembly. I do not see any screws. I see clips but do not want to take the risk of damaging or breaking a plastic clip. I searched for aftermarket lights, but was very unsuccessful. Thanks for your assisstance.CMT

you need a 10 mm ratchet or wrench, a small pocket screw driver and a flash light.take the 2 bolts out of the sheild under the bumper to have easy access. shine the flashlight at the rear and you will see 1 round peices on each side stick the screwdriver behind the tab holding it and pull the screwdriver away from the fog lamp housing and with your other hand push on the back of the fog lamp housing once you have them both loose take and push with the screw driver on each side of the adjusting screw at the bottom of the housing to get it loose the fog lamp will then come out the front of the bumper hole

Great instructions! Worked like a charm. To install, I just pushed the new assembly in from the front, and it snapped into place. I didn't do anything with the adjustment screw, but the beam did not seem to be out of whack.

These GM parts are killer. My wife bought my window switches when she got the window stuck down and called me freaking out in the rain. Those were $100. If it were me I'd see if some of the walmart or pepboys ones would fit somehow. It would be a hellofalot cheaper.

Old thread but I just found it today. Replaced mine (busted) with a set from Amazon. $45. Looks a LOT better. It was easy enough. I didn't have to unscrew all 3 screws out of the protective shroud, just the front one. Folded it back. Replaced after installation. I literally just shoved a screwdriver in the back between old light assembly and bumper, pried a few times, then shoved one between the front light and the bumper, and popped it right out. I replaced the little bracket rubbers from my old lights to my new lights, and popped them back in. My vibe has 14 lights on the front alone. 6 across roof. 2 100W LED Nilights, 2 85Watt LED headlight upgrades, 2 45 watt offroad cornering lights for seeing the ditches before they see me (ONLY for turning or perhaps for finding cellphones or socket wrenches on the side of the road ROFL), and these two spots. I used 30 watt LED spots. I have plenty of light.. no need to push it with local law enforcement.

I have a broken lens on Frosty, I put some clear packing tape on it a few years ago and it's still holding up fine. I bought some clear Gorilla tape since then, so one of these days maybe I'll peal off the packing tape and put the Gorilla on. That will probably be permanent.

I've also bought several Depo fog assemblies on Amazon over the years.
