Anyone having a prob with the front passenger & rear right passenger seat belts?? Mine lock on and keep getting tighter and tighter to the point you have to undo the belt & let it retract then put it on again, only to have to keep repeating this process over and over again?Anyone else notice this or have this problem??
My mom actually commented on this about the rear passenger side seatbelt. But then it seemed to be fine after a while and hardly anyone sits back there anyway. My problem with seatbelts is that everytime my boyfriend drives Sputnik he somehow manages to twist the belt and it ends up folded right where it goes through the thing (I don't know what its called, but the thing it slides through when you move it)... its such a small opening that it takes forever to get it untwisted. He's managed to do this 3 times in a week... I think I should ban him from driving my baby again. Just kidding of course.

This does it to my 8 year old daughter constantly in the backseat. My wife just informed me the center seat belt does it as well. Oh well to the dealer I go for them to check it out. Its a safety thing they way I view it so they better sort it out!!
Well we do share the vehicle (he pays for half of it)... its just its got my name on the lease, my license plate, and I picked it out! So I like to think of it as mine.

I managed to get my front passenger belt around the headrest, and it locked on tight. Any attempt to pull it free only made it tighter. I was about to give up and take it to the dealer to release it, when I remembered that the headrest comes off. Duh. Even still, they're like those Chinese Finger Traps--the harder you pull, the tighter they get. Should they be like that?
The seatbelts should lock when you pull on them very hard, or 'jerk' on it. Also, if you pull the front passenger seat belt all the way out, it should 'ratchet' and lock each time you pull on it, soft or hard. It is designed to do this, for child seat. All seat belt assemblies also lock if they are at the wrong angle. For example, if the car rolls, the angle of the seatbelt assembly is wrong and the seatbelt will lock. They are designed so that they are installed at the perfect angle in car to work properly and lock during an emergency, like an evasive driving manouver (sp?). As I work in an automotive assembly plant and have had to work with seatbelts in a Quality Assurance role, I can tell you that they don't always work as they should. It is a major issue if there is one found in the plant that doesn't work properly. If you have any question about your seat belt function, take it to the dealer. GM needs to know. You may just need a little training course or GM may have a serious problem. Remember this is a new model and although Nummi's quality record is stellar and new model launches are much better than they used to be, you just never know. Maybe you'll trigger a nationwide recall. Don't settle for a defective seatbelt assembly.
Thanks for the info but IMHO I think a seatbelt that keeps getting tighter and tighter and requires unbuckling while driving is definately a safety issue, especially concerning children in the rear seat. I'm gonna take it to the dealer and see what they say. Other than that I love my VIBE
Just to keep everyone informed, I took my Vibe to the dealer yesterday about the seatbelt problem I was having. They ended up replacing the front passenger & right rear seatbelts and they work fine now. So maybe there is a problem with the seatbelts............
The reason it locks is because when your putting your seat belt on your pulling it all the way out. If you do it will keep getting tighter.Next time you put your seat belt on make sure you don't pull it all the way out. Do it slowly to make sure. It will then allow the belt to work in and out without locking.
