what was the reason your alternator failed...bearing or no charging ?

Post by lexicon »

At 200k miles I decided to replace the brushes in my 2005 Vibe (only as a preventive measure) that alternator now has close to 250k miles and it continues to charge my battery well.

If I decide to take my Vibe to 300k, I am concerned the alternator may go sooner or later ....

This is the original alternator. what was the reason you replaced your alternator.... bearing whine or it just did not charge well

i still have my original alternator, however, i replaced mine due to electrical demand. 80A was not up to par with what i do with the vehicle. I did keep the original alternator just in case aftermarket fails. Another reason would be the charge voltage, if im not mistaken OEM regulators on the vibe alternator are around 13.5? i could be totally wrong, but thats what my OEM alternator charged at, ~120k mi 2003 vibe, with this new alternator it can output over 300A and charge @14.8v
