As a taller gent, the location of the shifter with the seat further back made for an uncomfortable shifting experience while driving. Having experience with a 3D printer and CAD software, I decided to try my hand at designing and printing a shift knob to improve the ergonomics of shifting. After a few prototypes, I settled on this simple design:
After some tweaks and some sanding for finish quality, it screwed on perfectly!
It does make the shift length a little long, but it's weight is perfect and puts the knob right in the most comfortable spot for my seat position. This current one is made of a plastic called PLA which may soften in a hot car but is plenty strong. If I start to find any issues with it I may print it in a different material.
