Need help on 2003 Vibe AWD rear mount removal

Post by cmgreyhounds »

It seems to be captive between the steering rack and the k-member. I'm just not figuring out how to get the (removed) out of there.

Lots of videos on replacing the mount for a FWD version, but the AWD is quite a bit different. Thanks in advance!

Well as it turns out there's no way but the hard way for this one.

You have to unbolt the steering rack and drop the suspension k-member to get the clearance to get the mount out. Also disconnect the sway bar end links first so the sway bar doesn't hold up the k-member.

Not a fun way to spend a Saturday, but there it is.

First, welcome to genvibe. Home of the best group on the internet.

That's a bummer that you had to partially drop the front k-frame to get the rear engine mount out.

Are you replacing all of the mounts? Or working on something else?

PS: we like pictures..of your car, dog/cat, or the project your working on with your car. :D
