If you unscrew the two screws in the shifter and pull, you will break two wires connected to the "Overdrive Off" button on the shifter. Dummy I am I did this, and now I can't go into 3rd gear should I ever feel the need to do so.
I unhooked the wires as best I could basically stuck them down into the little swing-out container so I can get at them whenever I need them. I'm assuming that if these two wires touch, I lose overdrive (4th); and if they don't touch, I'm in overdrive. Is this correct?
I ask because instead of buying a new shifting stick and tearing everything apart to replace it, I'd like to solder a simple toggle switch to these wires just in case I ever need to turn overdrive off. Thanks!
