04 Vibe - Passenger Window slow at first to lower

Post by gginnj »

Recently the passenger window is a little slow to lower - then picks up about a 1/3 way down to normal speed - raising isn't an issue.
no clicking noted - so I don't think the door check is involved in this.

is this the motor starting to go bad? or could it be the switch?

Thanks

Possibly the window pane is coming loose from the regulator. You will need to remove the door panel to see what's going on. It's not difficult to do. Our own Derf has made a video. You can skip ahead to 2:49:

The window doesn't seem to move around when its descending. Other than the window doing a little "I think I can..." at first - nothing else is abnormal - no noises - vibrations...

I agree, the door panel is fairly easy to remove - (I replaced the door check on the drivers side - that was pretty straight forward).

Just didn't want to pull it apart - and everything look ok. Motors priced out at about $40.00 on amazon so If I had to replace the motor it's not going to break the bank. None of the other windows are having that issue, so it seems to be either that window - or the switch. But now that I think about it, I'm not sure if we tried to use the switch on that door to lower the window to see if it follows - will have to do that tonight.

if it's loose from the regulator, is that just something that needs to be tightened, or does the regulator or the window need replaceing?

Thanks

I did not have to this yet myself, but here is a thread that deals with window trouble. Unfortunately the pictures are no longer there.

From this I guess I would first lubricate the track without pulling the door panel. If that does not help I would pull the door panel and observe what it's doing. Then decide if something needs to be glued, tightened and lubricated.

Good luck and report your findings.
