new clutch 'chatter'?

Post by DopeVibeGT »

I just had a new clutch installed in my 03 GT. When I picked it up and drove it, when I pull out from a dead stop, the car vibrates badly. It's ok when it's moving and shifting into other gears. I took it back and they said that the flywheel was resurfaced and it should clear up. Is that right? I never had a car do that after a clutch was installed. I was going to give it 500 miles and if it isn't "cleared up" by then, take it back.

Anyone know if the mechanic is right or is there something wrong?

There is usually a swooshing sound when a new clutch is being released but there shouldn't be vibration. Something is definitely wrong.

Grease on friction plate or flywheel?
I agree, 500 miles won't solve it. I'd get manager to drive it with you so it can be well documented.
