Just like it says! Inspire me! Looking at changing the radio in the Matrix. Not sure what I want, so I want to see what you guys have.

I've been thinking about adding some sort of display for a backup camera but the problem is most aftermarket touch screen radios look cheap or out of place. I was thinking about swapping in the factory matrix navigation radio but honestly I wouldn't know where to start. It would be cool though!

Nice Navi system. Apparently (what the salesman told me) they are very rare in our Trixs.

I too was looking at a rear view camera, found a local shop who would install it for $225 Canadian tx in. Basically he would replace the rear view mirror with the camera screen.

This guy installed an OEM 2009+ Matrix navigation system into his wife's 2009 Vibe.

I'd love to have the OEM navigation system, but it sounds like a lot of work :(.

Wow that is way too much work for me lol but I have to admit it was a very clean install.

Nothing fancy:

I actually have a bigger, widescreen Garmin in there now.

The factory navigation system sucks compared to more modern solutions. I had been thinking about replacing the deck+GPS with an integrated double-DIN navigation unit, but the user experience with those is rather awful. Even the best ones have a lag of 30+ seconds between turning the car on and being able to navigate. The way I have mine hooked up, the GPS is ready instantly and the stereo's Bluetooth connects to my phone in about 6-8 seconds.

I really like your set up! What are you using to keep your phone held up?

I've switched to a universal phone mount. The one I'm using is the Kenu Airframe, which is stone cold awesome. Easy quick one-handed mounting and removal of the phone and it holds securely.
http://www.kenu.com/products/airframe" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I've attached the Kenu Airframe to the dash by:

1) Installing a Garmin-style sticky back ball mount to the Passenger Air Bag display area:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004MG ... UTF8&psc=1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

2) Cutting off the excess portion of a regular Garmin Nuvi bracket and gluing it to the back of the Kenu with some epoxy:

For the GPS, all I did was buy a length of thin steel bar from Home Depot, then cut off a section about a foot long. I bent it into shape and used a pair of small bolts on each the top and bottom to affix it to the cubby portion of my stereo's dash mount. The GPS is attached with mounting tape.
