I don't understand. The book says that I can lock the liftglass by putting my key into the hatch and turning it to the second clockwise station, but my key won't go past 3 O'clock clockwise (which only locks the hatch door). I called my salesman yesterday and he told me to lift the glass, then press the liftglass release on the dash in order to lock it (once I close it it does lock after that). This seems like a really dumb thing to have to do everytime I unclock my hatch to put in groceries or something (especially yesterday when it was raining cats and dogs and I had to run back and forth from my dash to the hatch). So, is the liftglass supposed to unlock when I use my hatch button on my remote, and is the remote hatch button supposed to lock the hatch, too, or only unlock it, and why doesn't my liftglass lock - am I not getting it right?Thank you thank you thank youBTW I LOVE MY VIBE!!!!

This is its only function. And as Scott said, when you close the glass, it's locked.
Mine does not lock when it's closed. Even the hatch doesn't quite "catch"; there's some play in it until it is properly locked. The only way I can get my glass to lock is to raise it, hit the dash release, then close the glass. I guess I'll be visiting my dealer this week!

When its closed, but not locked how do you open it? When mine is closed it can't be opened (because I can't get my fingers under it) until I use the remote or the button on the dash to open it.

Hi!When it is closed (and I mean down) it is not "latched"... it's just resting down. It will not catch or truly close unless I hit the release again and lower it once more. I only realized it wasn't locked down when I drove, hit a bump and the door open indicator came on. Then when I stopped and tried to use the remote to lock the doors, it doesn't work because it won't activate unless everything is truly closed. I really think I have a latching malfunction issue. boohoo. Thanks for your input; I'm so sad my Vibe isn't as perfect in reality as it is in my mind!!!

It sounds like the latch is closing on it's own for some reason before the glass is actuallt closed. That's a minor glitch that should be easily fixed by the dealer. Good luck.
Visited the dealer about my troubled hatch as well. Seams the latch and catch mechanisms are not positioned correctly, resulting in the need to slam the hatch down to lock it. Thats what happens when you take the factories out of Detroit and put em in California I guess.
