It WILL be further south in 2013 :D Got a whole year to start planning it. On a brighter side, while most of the midwest was sweltering in 100+'f temperatures, we were somewhat comfy (upper 80's - low 90's) with a good breeze off Lake Erie. Had we held this anywhere else (like two years ago) we would have been miserable

Here's a couple pics that Andy doesn't have:

It was a real blast to meet everyone, I can't wait to do it again. I will add my pictures as soon as I get them off my phone. I did want to say thanks to tpoullaf for the "shortie" antenna at the meet, my old stock one was in sad shape with all the rubber cracked and crumbling off of it. The new one really looks good and I keep looking at it while getting in my car.

I know, I love my antenna as well. I think it's the best thing Pontiac never did to these cars.

As for going further south. A tail of the dragon meet would be nice, but, we also need something further west as well. Or, two meets, east and west. It's a harsh reality we may need to face. Regional meets are what's becoming the norm as fuel prices rise and money gets more and more tight.

This is something we have about a year to figure out. I also think if we have just one meet, it needs to be a spring or just out of school meet to keep out of the sweltering heat of the central united states.
Side note, north Dakota is the center of north America. Just saying.

North Dakota is nice, and very convenient for me, but not for Brandon. What about east/central Iowa? My dad's hometown of Oelwein has a nice big, shady park next to a lake, and cheap hotel rates. Also, there's one hotel. Maybe two. But it's pretty nice. Close enough for Chicagoland to join us, some central/midwestern Vibers could meet, and central enough to make it attractive to some out west.

Or somewhere near Chicago. Like Huntley.

But for me Erie is as far east as I'll want to go. It was nice, but 1800 miles in five days... Yeah.

Also, July might not be too good because of extreme heat. Erie was lucky. It was cool enough, and we had the lake wind.

I'll try to get the few pictures I took up soon. But it seems the camera liked Tim...

I'd enjoy a meet at the Tail of the Dragon. I may be going there in the next week or so.

Great looking pictures and Vibes guys and gals ;)! It's nice to put faces to usernames... even if it wasn't in person :(.

A Tail of the Dragon meet would be awesome, as would a Pontiac, Illinois meet (I'd be willing to set stuff up as it's only about an hour and a half south of me). No matter where it is next year though, I WILL BE THERE NO MATTER WHAT :D! Perhaps we should go ahead and start a thread soon to get ideas and votes for next year's location...

Also, I agree with Andy that next year should be a spring or earlier summer meet to avoid the unbearably hot weather.

Well thius location IS a bit further SOUTH as suggested by Brandon ..... BUT more west from where he lives. I'd definitely be in favor of the meet being more "centrtalized" so this Pontiac Illinois location just may work out. Early June at the latest should be the chosen date. Probably June 9,10,11!

We're holding you to this promise Carrie  Also YES a thread should be started and even though it's a year away, we can start planning it right now :D

Pontiac has to be the place. HAS TO. June 9/10/11 would work for me, since I graduate second week of June. And it's only eight hours away from me (ONLY). I'll be able to stop by my grandparents' houses, see my 101 year-old great-grandma (if she makes it to nearly 102. Her bday is early June), and keep going to Pontiac. Best part, no Chicago to drive through!! No missed tolls, no tire treads to be thrown at me, no brat in a bronze Mini... just corn..... Yay!!!!

I'll make this happen if you don't. Chances are it'd be my last midwest meet, since next year (fall 2013) I'll be in Cali.

June 7,8,9. NOT the 9,10,11.

Reason being, the 7th is a Friday, and the 9th is a Sunday. I'd rather not have a meet during the week. Lol

Alright, we've got quite a few votes for Pontiac, Illinois already. Perhaps I will go ahead and make a thread in the Vibe Lounge in the next couple days and see if we can get some more input from other members.

And... I consider this a sign that the meet has to be in Pontiac, Illinois next year (this was on my way home from the 2010 Indy meet) :D...

I would sat the 8th would be a good date, seeing as I'll take Thursday and Friday to get there (I have the little ones who will not ride past 5 hours), That gives me saturday to go to the meet and take a nice run on route 66 (SAWEET!!!). Then it's Sunday and Monday home, unless the little ones fall asleep, then it's just Sunday home.

Carrie, I'll be watching for that Pontiac, Illinois thread, if you decide to start one. I might have a better chance at making that meet than this year's. Early June is smart, too.

Going a little further north from me but I honestly think one in Huntsville, AL would be good. Could get some really cool pictures at the NASA space and rocket center there too..

I'll drive like 7-8 hrs I guess, just don't wanna go over 500 miles.

I gots the baby now

Huntsville is cool (45min North for me), but that's pretty far South for most

Maybe Tennessee?

I live in the Florida Panhandle so even Huntsville's like a 6 hour drive, I have family up in Kingsport, TN, could do one in that general area. Where are you at Martyr? All else fails and we could just set up a meet in the south for those of us that don't like snow lol

Sounds like a tail of the dragon meet might even be better than Pontiac, seeing as we already have 3-4 who would drive it.

Oh, and psycho, I got a 2 year old, I know your road trip sorrows. Lol

Well, my wife called a crapload of places to get goodies for the meet. GM was kind enough to send us some of what was left of the official Pontiac merchandise.
They, along with a bunch of other companies provided quite a swag bag for everyone who attended.

A Tail of the Dragon meet would be fine by me! It'd be a bit more of a drive for me, but that just means more days away from work :P!

No way I can pull a Florida trip. Way too far to travel in that short of a time period, and way farther than I'd want to go.

X2.... This would not make much sense for the majority of GenVibers who are NOT populated in Florida. Anywhere along the Ohio/Mississippi river areas should be good for another good turnout :)

The tail isn't in Florida. It's on the Tennessee, North Carolina border. US route 129.

It's about a 10 hour drive from my place.
About 9 hours from Toledo.
17 hours from Minneapolis.
11 hours from sandwich.
14 hours from Toronto.
And 14 hours from Miami.
Its about 30 minutes from Dollywood. Lol

Oddly enough, I-75 is the main route north and south to the tail.

I'm good where ever the majority lies, as it's almost the same amount of drive to either of those two locations. Win win for me is to be able to drive a dream road either way. LOL

Hello All, I haven't been on here in a while--not since the new "look"--I am a lurker and the proud owner of a 2004 Lava Vibe with 127,000+ and no complaints about my Vibe. I would love to meet anyone and everyone at a get together in Pontiac, Illinois. I would think the tourist bureau would love to see us meet there, as it is right on old Route 66 and they welcome folks there driving it from all over the world. My little Vibe would love to make the trip, as long as it is a day/weekend that I could attend, so count me as a vote for Pontiac. Keep on Vibin'!!!!!! :P ;) :)
