Rear struts in an AWD 2003

Post by OmniDimensional »

So I started lowering my AWD today, the front struts were a piece of cake and look great. However, the rear struts are being a royal pain. I unhooked the sway bar to give more room (and broke a bolt but I won't go there) but no matter how much I try I can't make room to pull out the strut. I plan on unhooking the control arm to help give more room but this sounds mental and overkill. How can it be this difficult to do?! I was just hoping to get some words of advice from experienced people here and see where I'm going wrong.

Also, reminder, this is the AWD version and I don't know how different it is from the base/GT rear suspension assy.

Thanks in advance. This is going to be a sleepless night :( hate seeing my vibe in distress.

Went with the control arm today, and it worked like a charm. The vibe's lowered and looking sharp!
