Power Door Locks

Post by FlatFenders »

2005 Vibe - the doors will not lock with the remote or the lock buttons on the doors. However they will still unlock with both the remote and the buttons on the doors. The only way to lock the doors is to manually push the old type manual knobs down on the doors one at a time.
Any clue what is going on here?
I have two of these 2005 Vibes and the other one is still fine with 150,000 miles on it. I can swap parts if you can give me a hint where to start.

I bet it's the same thing that's happened to my 03 recently, on mine the front pass side and rear driver side started getting wonky about a month or so ago and as of last week, they won't lock/unlock with the remote, locking /unlocking both manually works fine, and the other 2 doors work great, so I think it is the actuators so I am going to take them out next week and see if i can take them apart and clean all of the contacts. hopefully that will work, or at least keep it going for a while

You are just going to have to replace them. It's a plastic piece that houses the actuator and there are several tight fitting plastic tabs and pretty much the only way getting ito it will be to break them off. If you can find an actuator cheap, then it's pretty simple to replace it. If by chance you figure out a way to get the plastic housing open without breaking it, PLEASE let me know. I have both front and pass rear that the actuator has went out on.

I just bought an power door lock actuator for 130 bucks shipped at rock auto. They seemed to be the cheapest at the time. Good luck
