I just checked and it feels a little oily (if that makes sense) but I'm still not sure. Nothing was said about oiling the filter in the instructions and it was wrapped up in a big plastic bag so I figured it was already oiled.........About to make a call, hopefully someone is there.....
afe, just called and the woman said it was but didn't sound too sure, so I asked her to double check and she then told me I need to check with the manufacturer
K&N sell a filter recharge kit for like 10 bucks that comes with the oil and cleaner at most auto parts places. If your not sure if it has oil,buy some oil and wet her up.Most filters are oil type.

Does it have any traces of oil in it now.You said it felt oily.It it feels oily, then you have nothing to worry about. But go to auto parts place and get the kit.But remember not to over oil your filter,it will get your maf sensor all dirty.

called the manufacturer and they said it came pre-oiled. I finished my install by attaching the heatshield. I know it takes about 100 miles to achieve max h.p. increase but it is really cool right now! What shall I do next? Now I want more speed!

Too much oil can clog the filter, or worse, the oil can get sucked into the intake system and foul up your MAF sensor, and possibly more.
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!

I've never seen any data to back it up though. I'm happy with mine, no chance of over-oiling contaminating my MAF.

Downside to the Dryflow with a Cosmo CAI is foglight interference. I ended up cutting a little off the bottom of the intake tube so the filter fit properly. It's much larger than the "filter" Cosmo supplied. In the end I guess I traded tube length for filter size... works out about the same.
