i just had my intake... man. and i wasnt all that great shifting... plus you have a LOT of crap in your car. extra weight with speakers and stuff can lower the HP/LBS ratio.

the rear seats in the vibe are pretty heavy. i'd take them out. they unbolt. anything that's not strapped down, take it out! lose as much weight as possible if you want the best times, but then you'll need to launch HARD. best to lose as much weight and launch agressively, but not blow out clutch agressive. cause that would really suck with a vacation next week and needing to have the clutch replaced! track is clear and good to go! i'm heading out there right now, so i'll see you when you get there. hopefully you can beat your best times from the last run! get to low low 17's or break 16's!

17.2 is low but I'd be happy with less even. Its cool out there and I need to try some clutch friendly yet different shifting methods from last time.

Would you suggest going as far as to take that stuff out, or should that stuff stay in the car at all times?

I know the MT vs the AT plays a big part, but I just don't understand why my car is so slow.

how are you launching??? look at your 60' time and that will give you an idea of what's going on. i really think you're killing your times there.

well its all in the launch... the faster you start moving, obviously the better time you can get. I tried several things. First I tried sitting there staged and idle, then come off the clutch and down on the gas and found my car would bog down a little. That probably cost me a second or more. So what I did yesterday was stage and then rev up to about 3k, let off the gas and then rev again to 3k. Then when the last yellow light up and it goes to green then I would rev again and come up off the clutch. This kept me from bogging down and since my RPM was about 2500 roughly when I launched, the car just powered forward. No drop in RPM. Now I understand that could be a lot harder to do with an automatic. Also things to consider is track and air temp, as well as grip your car has. Some guys will try different lanes and see which one feels better.Plus I know my car loves cold air in that intake and yesterday was pretty cool. I bet if it was warmer, obviously my car would have been slower.I'm kinda curious what my car could do with your mods now lol

But there's always AAA, and it's worth the better times to go with out the estra weight.

Well each track might be different but thats what we're allowed to do here. I'd never drive to the track without my spare tire and my tools, some coolant and oil.

Yeah, and here a lot of guys trailer there monsters in so they leave their trucks and trailers and tools and such in the lot they allow you to work on your car in.

here's the scan of my time slip... we'll be heading back to the track in the next week or so to see the difference the unichip made on the vibe. cooler air should definitely help with the times. I'm gonna shoot for 13.4-13.6 ET and hopefully Mav can get down to 15.9-16.3 times..... if he can lower his 60' times, it should certainly help! then maybe we'll switch cars and see the difference... i've never driven an MT down the track.

Here's a vid of a pass I made before turning up the boost a couple lbs (disregard the "blackeclipse" in the filename, the guy who took the vid was on crack): http://www.hondaddy.com/Videos...6.wmvBasically just 1.8l vtec motor with new pistons/rods and 16 lbs of boost (14 in the video) with a t3/t4 turbo.

no one ever said fwd sucks. fwd serves it's purpose just fine, however in an area where we have ice and snow (like it is doing today), FWD with that much power just won't cut it. If i had my VGT still, i'd have been one of the first people to get that 2zz turbo! woulda been about the same as i'd spent on various parts and what not... so atleast i'd have been hella fast! LOLare you running a FMIC with that set up? I'm assuming you have to with that kind of boost and turbo.

Here is my 3 time slips,The 1/4 time 15.466 had a bad start Good burnout, good grip but with about 3000rpm launch results in a dead start.A better start is= 15.587And the best start was 15.818 but missed the 2nd gear

i just don't believe it, that would be an ok run for a GT. what did the pumpkin get? i know it was modded pretty moderately and didn't hit that.

Pumpkin ran 16.85 with CAI, Exhaust, unichip. that was about 70 deg on a 70 ft sea level track. of course, Mav will not beat the crap out of his clutch, so i'm sure we could've gotten much lower times if he wanted to push the car. i also am curious to see a COMPLETELY stock base Vibe 5spd run 16.2 in much hotter temps. there are always factory freaks or people willing to kill the clutch and trans to get a faster time, so.... you never know. there are stg 2 (lightly modded LGT's) running 12's. that guy is the ONLY person on the forums that has been able to hit 12's on a stock turbo with his limited mods. so, we call him a factory freak. LOL. so, maybe the track gods were with him that day, but i've seen some crazy times on cars that should NOT be able to hit them. but.... where's the time slip??
