boomermsu's 03 Frosty Base/Auto

Post by boomermsu »

Latest Photos added below in Thread:So here is the Vibe that was purchased to be a commuter for my wife in place of our trailblazer during the $4.00 per gallon period of time. Well that has come and gone and the Trailblazer has been traded in for a different car for the wife. So I inherited the Vibe for daily driver commuting duty. Needless to say it is a fun little car to drive. Haven't done much to it except keep it washed and added a U-Haul Trailer Hitch to it. That and put miles on it quick. It needs new tires, front brakes soon and just need to keep up on maintenance.Thinking of getting a CAI for it soon. Would like to tint the windows and put a magnaflow cat-back on it as well. But as a daily commuter I really should keep the mods to my other two toys.Rear view hitchAnother view of rear and hitch

Well I don't have the supporting pictures but some progress has been made to the visual appeal of the car. tinted windows 5% and removed all the badges on the sides and rear of the car. It has also received new tires and some Hawk HPS front brake pads with new rotors. What should I do next to help with Fuel Consumption? Will CAI/Header/Catback help in this department or will it just increase power but reduce fuel economy? Other cars increased fuel economy with some intake and exhaust bolt-ons.

Nice rack! I have to push my cargo box up a bit further than I would like to get the clearance for the hatch too.

No I do not Race MX. The number plate stickers are In Memory of my wife's cousin who raced MX and Snowcross. He passed away a few years back. As for what am I going to carry in the roof basket. A large cargo bag full of Camping gear/Luggage.

This is how you load up a vibe and utilize a cargo basket.

Excellent use of space! I love that you can put about as much in the Vibe as you can a small SUV. How does it compare with packing your Trailblazer? I can fit everything in my Vibe that I used to pack in my Cherokee.

Well I don't have the trailblazer anymore but I can probably do almost as much with the vibe as I could with the trailblazer. Only problem is the payload capacity. I think I pushed the limits of the vibes weight limitation with that load. But for what it is it does pretty good. Just lack of torque and payload capacity. I think I even pushed the limits of the roof rail capcity with that load as well. But on the flip side I still got around 28 mpg combined city/highway with all that. Trailblazer will never compare in that category.

wow! that Vibe looks like mine during our last vacation! I have the bike hitch rack from my previous vehicle but did not find time yet to get an hitch installed. My wife prefers our black Vibe but I have to say that those frosty Vibes are very nice looking.
