It is easy to get out BUT.... Check the plug for the resister in the front left of the passenger foot well. Passengers often kick the plug off and you think the fan died while it was only the plug.Take the glove box door off, unplug the fan, remove bolts, it drops out of the housing. Pull gently, it may be stuck.I've had my plug kicked off and I've taken out the fan to remove leaves that fell off the top of the cabin air filter when I pulled it out and thus made noises.Dave

I now have the same problem on my '05 Vibe - no blower (fan) on any speed. I replaced the resistor a few months ago because the fan worked only with the switch set to the highest speed. That fixed it - and it worked fine (on all speeds) until yesterday. (At first, sometimes it would need a good "thump" underneath the instrument panel (like under the glove box) to have it run at full force, but it's been working normally for a few months on each speed without any of my help). Now it doesn't work at all. Before I try to replace the blower motor, I want to make sure its not just the fuse for the blower motor circuit. The owner's manual fuse diagram doesn't show anything called "blower motor" or "fan" - except for something called "Electric Cooling Fan No. 1" and "Electric Cooling Fan No. 2." One is in the engine compartment (RDI) and only the fan is on the circuit. The other one is found in the passenger compartment (under the instrument panel on the driver's side - I can't find it) but has other components on the same circuit as the "Electric Cooling Fan" like cruise control, etc. Since the cruise works, that fuse must be good. So, which fuse should I check for the blower motor? Thanks for any advice you could give me.

Did you follow the how to?If not, it is located here. Its got pictures and is very informative. Let us know if you still have any issues after checking that out.@ric36012 - I had the exact same thing happen on my previous vehicle. If hitting the fan housing worked to 'jump start' the fan and then it eventually stopped working I'm 99% sure the fan has finally died. I think the 'Electric Cooling Fan' you are referring to is the engine cooling fan (behind the radiatior) NOT the cabin fan. I'd check the fuse marked 'HTR' on the fuse panel under the dash. I believe it s a 40A.
