Already a problem!

Post by OttawaVibe »

Picked up the Vibe today. 126 days after ordering and already a problem. The "Door chime" goes whenever the driver door is open. It acts as though there is a key in the ignition. The big problem with this is that with power door locks...It won't lock! I guess the design will not allow the doors to lock if there is a key in the ignition. If you try to lock them with the lock switch on the door it locks but then unlocks. If you try to do it manually...Same thing. The key chain remote will not work at all to lock the doors(Only unlock and hatch release). If I lock the door using my keys it will work(Pain in the (removed))! Guess who I'm going to see tommorow!! I hope this isn't a sign of things to come!

Definately keep us informed on what the dealer finds the problem to be! I am interested to see what part(s) is actually failing. In the same aspect....I know I just found out today that if you unlock the doors with the remote and don't open any doors, the doors automatically lock after about 30 seconds. Point-in-case, I unlocked my doors this morning, ran back into the house, came back out and the doors were still locked. I was a little confused , but then figured out it must be a security feature in case you accidentally hit the unlock button and walk away, the doors relock for you.

NSimkins, you're quite right! I was surprised to discover that feature as well. My family and I went out for dinner the day we picked up the Vibe, and afterwards we went out to the car and I unlocked it with the keyfob. We stood there next to the car chatting for a moment, and suddenly it locked back up. At first I thought I had pushed the button by accident, but then when I read through the manual I discovered it's a feature. Pretty cool.OttawaVibe, definitely keep us updated on that door chime / power lock problem. Sounds bad.

Well later last night when my wife got home from work...It seems to have fixed itself. Perhaps the ignition switch was a lil' stiff due to it being new?? I'll wait and see for now....She waited 18 weeks for the car, so I doubt she wants to take it back right now. Nothing worse than taking a car in only to have the problem go away as you get there. We've got 60000kms for it to happen again!
