Looking for engine swap mechanic in Ohio (or rebuild?)

Post by UberDemon »

I have an 03 base model that needs a new motor, or possibly a rebuild of the original (ran on low oil on highway - engine is not seized, but has super loud knock, sounds like a machine gun). I'm looking for the end result that is the best value.

If you know the Vibe, and know the 1zz-fe and think you can pull this off in a reasonable amount of time please PM me with contact info.

Would also be interested in referrals for Cincinnati/Dayton/Columbus area shops, if their prices are highly competitive.

Thanks!

Get estimates from local junkyards for installation of a low mileage used engine! The last two I had done cost $800 and $1200 respectively, both still running 7 and 2 years out. The price can vary widely based on many factors including the availability of good used engines.
Do not have your old engine rebuilt, unless your uncle/brother/sister is a race-car engine rebuild tech!
Just my 2 cents,
