Better results when racing.

Most probably know this or at least you should. When racing someone all ways shift past the engines HP peak. Meaning if the GT 180HP peaks at 7600 shift at around 8100 to 8200. Here's the reason whyTake 2 stock GTs and race them with one guy shifting at the 7600 peak mark and another guy shifting about 5 or 600 RPM above it. The guy that shifts at about the peak HP range is going to be much lower on the power band in the next gear when the RPMS drop. The guy shifting above the peak HP mark will be much higher in the power band so in the next gear he's going to really pull away from the other guy. Hope that makes sense and you'll notice a big diffrence in your next gear if shifting this way. It also works for the auto guys. Just start out in first and at about 500 RPM over the peak shift to the next gear. Also for the auto guys, to raise your rpm alittle right before a race hold in the brake and press the gas to the floor. Your RPMS will jump up to around 2100 to 2500 RPM instead of starting off at the idle RPM. This is the RPM your torque converter starts to lock up at. When you start racing just let off the brake. It helps a little bit, then shift above the peak. Don't hold the brake and gas for more than 5 or 6 seconds if possable. The torque converter gets hot fast and heat in a trany isn't a good thing. A good performance torque converter like the one that http://www.levelten.com makes for the Vibe will shave .5 to 1 full second of your 1/4 mile times.Good luck racing.
