2008 Vibe 10,500 miles master computer problems

Post by road_dog »

My 2008 is having the second computer installed after only 33 miles after first replacement at 10,500 miles - something's up. Anyone else having master computer problems?

Did they perform a cursory check for shorting in the harness? That can kill an ECU...given the mileage, the ECU is likely a symptom and not the problem.

I don't know what the dealer did - the way things are set up the service rep really doesn't know what's going on either. I did realize that going out after only 33 miles indicateds this is the symptom, not the problem. Why would you shorten the harness? I work on vintage cars and motorcycles and don't really know anything after electronic eginitions came in.

You wouldn't intentionally put a short in the harness. I was suggesting checking the ECM harness for any electrical shorts...
