RPM Surge while turning steering wheel-Anybody else notice it?

My 07 Vibe is the second I have owned and quite frankly not near the vehicle my first year was. Fit and finish is cheaper looking than the first one, not detailed in any event. I have noticed while sitting still with the motor running, If I turn the steering wheel the engine speed goes up about 500 RPMs. It is just enough to feel it against the brake pedal. Just me or has anyone else noticed it?

Mine has always done that a well. Same with our Aztek.

Mine does it too. Not 500 rpms but it does increase the rpms. It makes sense, because when you turn the wheel it activates the power steering pump and requires a little bit of energy to do so.

My first one did slightly as well, about like when the A/C was turned on

I especially notice this during the winter months. It's my subtle way of increasing the RPMs to help the engine warm up faster, since I never immediately put my Vibe in gear until the engine has warmed up.Power steering has its benefits!
