What are people getting? I bought my car used with 30k miles. I just ran my first tank through and currently have 1/16th tank left in it. According to mileage gage ive only drove 212 miles. When I filled I put in just over 13 gallons. This is all city driving, with few stops.

My car is too new to really know what MPGs (just over 2,000 miles) but my '09 2.4L has been getting between 23-25 mpg so far... this is about 1/3 highway and 2/3 city, keeping in mind I have a bit of a lead foot so it hasn't been the most efficient driving (going really fast, lots of starts and stops, etc).

I should note that i did use the sport shift an awful lot this tankful. Yikes, 16 MPG sounds pretty scary, sport shift or not. In any event, this topic has been discussed quite a bit previously on genvibe. Here are links to at least two threads on the subject.Fuel mileage question for 2.4L owners.2.4L Gas Mileage?Quote, originally posted by Entelodont »The last tank full yielded 24.1 MPG, 50/50 city / hwy on 100% gas, no ethanol. It's an automatic. Where are you getting 100% gasoline with no alcohol? I've heard that Casey's General Store sells 100% gas as the 87 octane, but I don't know for sure.

When I first bought my '09 2.4, I was getting about 22, mostly city driving. After 3 months, I was getting 27. 100% gas, no ethanol. You can expect a decrease in fuel economy in the winter. I think it's due to a different cold weather gasoline blend, and the density of cold air.
Casey's General Store is the place; in Iowa the specific grades must be marked accordingly. I talked to the tanker driver unloading there to confirm that 87 octane is 100% gas. Sam's Club up here has a couple of 100% gas pumps as well. I'm not sure if that is the case in Illinois.
On both of our 2.4 L Vibe Gt's . We measured 29 and 29.3 mpg respectively just last weekend. That was on a 406 mile one-way trip. I felt like that was pretty good. I was surprised it was that even. The jet black Vibe was the better and has only 5,000 miles on it whereas, my red one has over 29,000 miles. Very pleased !
My Vibe attained 32.2 MPG with 650 Lbs. of payload on a road trip to see the NFL Aint's VS the Lambs on a November road trip . At 65 MPH and passing , when necessary.

Now I'm going to need to do some mpg comparisons to see if I can justify spending 15 cents extra per gallon at Casey's General Store vs. Kroger.

I've had 12 fill-ups since May 2009 when I purchased my 2009 Vibe GT. The best tank yielded me 31.1mpg and the worst 25.1. Also the best distance was 342 miles and took 11.9 gallons to top it off. Average of my 3645 miles so far, using 132.1 gallons = 27.6 mpg. Very pleased with those results! The "manual 5-speed" transmission makes a noticeable difference in the better numbers over an automatic. I just wish the fuel tank were bigger (15-16 gal instead of 13) so we could all drive a bit further between fill ups!
Forgot to mention that all those numbers reflect an honest 1/3 highway & 2/3 city driving with short stops in general. If stuck at RR crossings or major traffic jams.. I shut the Vibe down! I generally drive conservatively!
I got 32 mpg on a trip that was all highway driving. It was a 90 degree day and I had the AC cranking. I kept the car between 55 and 60 mph. The return trip I averaged about 65mph and the mileage went down to 29mpg. All city driving I get 19 mpg
Ive filled up 5 or so times since the time of my initial post and can honestly say fuel consumption hasn't gotten any better. 99% of my driving consists of all city driving and 50 percent of that keeps me under 25mph. I work on a military base so... on avarage I get 210 miles between fillups, pretty gnarly compared to my last car that got 230 miles on a 9 gallon tank.

Like I said before, I've been getting 27 mpg with my base 2.4 with the 5-speed auto. To the OP: if you put just over 13 gals in, that fuel dealer might be cheating a bit, or you like living close to the edge. I thought the tank only held 13.2 gals.
Drive as smoothly as you can, anticipate stops to let off the gas sooner when nearing stop signs, traffic lights. Check your tire pressure. 40 psi fronts and 38 rears if you can stand the firmer ride. Always accelerate gently. You'll save lots of gas and money!!

I'm from Ontario, my VIBE 2009 5 speed is supposed to get 39 mpg. 7.2 km / 100 k... not happening! lucky to get 31 mpg and the fuel light comes on at 500 km. My COBALT got 650 km per tank on a bad day! I travel all hwy. Don't boast good mileage and then don't deliver or I would have picked a different vehicle. Love the space and the handling but not the mpg!!!

The 1.8L 5-speed was rated at 26 city/32 hwy and the 2.4L 5-speed was rated at 21 city/28 hwy. Sounds like your Vibe is right on target.

In Canada we use Litres per 100km and Imperial MPG. Makes a big diffrence when you have 4.55L per Gallon (Imp.) vs. 3.78....And based on the numbers he gave, he has the 2.4... and probably drives the 400 series of highways at 130km/h like everyone else. Keep it at or below 100km/h and you'll see that 7.2L/100km.(Note to self: For better mileage, drive like Granny)
I got 33.9 mpg on my '09 2.4L (K&N Typhoon intake) on my trip from Sandwich, Illinois to the Wisconsin Dells this past weekend. I drove 65-70 mph depending on traffic (speed limit was 65). 20 miles or less of the trip was slow driving (25-30 mph) around the Dells, the rest was all highway. I made it there and back (approximately 180 miles one way) on one tank with at least 2.5 gallons to spare (the low fuel light came on 4 miles from the gas station).I am very pleased with the Vibe's performance on this road trip. I average 27-29 mpg with 50% city/50% highway so this 10% city/90% highway was a 3-5 mile gain. Not bad at all in my opinion .

Getting my tires filled back up after a winter of evil potholes made a huge difference in mpg... I'm back up to 29/30mpgs with half city half highway. That's *just* where I want it, and maybe a new intake will improve that by 1 or 2....... (since I'm certainly not going to try to drive more conservatively, lol)
